homeschoolmom
Oh... well, as far as I know there is no Catholic significance. Only silliness and birthdays.

I was always told you were supposed to make a wish at 11:11, and my Google search as well came up with relative nonsense. Now I don't feel so weird about why I insist on wishing every 11:11.. I always start it with a Hail Mary and make it some gift of virtue or plea of defense for my future husband as revealed by the end of my novena to St. Joseph.. he even tossed around the idea of getting married on 11/11/2011 once and has no idea about my daily wishes for him. Needless to say I melted.. but still wondered what the big deal was about the numbers. Armistice Day: my new answer if anyone asks.
puellapaschalis
Making a wish on Armistice Day? Never heard of that When I was growing up it was all about proudly wearing our poppies, visiting the graves of those who came back, visiting the vets, watching the ceremonies and observing silence. They don't do it here - seeing as NL wasn't in the Great War, it would be a bit odd, but I miss it nonetheless.

Been in London for it twice now, but only watched the parade once. Hmm, bet they'll start selling poppies before too long. . .

Lil Red
+J.M.J.+ from wikipedia: 1918 - World War I ends: Germany signs an armistice agreement with the Allies in a railroad car outside of Compiègne in France. The war officially stops at 11:00 (The eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month). I think it would be cool to wear a poppy on that day in remembrance of the ending of WWI.
