It seems like a play... maybe of their saints and blesseds?
Anyway, I love the that the Salesians are always so joyful!

Duuuuuhhhh...yes, looks like there were a few snippets of a stage production :duh:

Don Bosco would have appreciated this one, I think :saint: .

Yea, I don't see many priests exuberantly sweeping his arms and saying "We're $order!!!!" Should probably be more of those around ;)

But on the other hand, personally I'm a kind of reserved person. So maybe I could see something like that twice a year and any more often and I'd go all wizzy :topsy:

Know what you mean, PP, but that little number pulled me out of my winter funk. Anyway, many charisms, but one Church, eh?

I get tired only thinking about Salesians :)

But I still  them. They totally rock. Don Bosco should be required study material at every teaching program.

Oh that was a delight. I don't get to hear much Italian spoken these days - even a little brings back great memories of my grandfather. Salesians were a part of my formatin when I was a youngster. I was "raised" in a Franciscan parish, had Franciscan sisters in school but went to summer camp (Camp Auxiliam, where my favorite sister of all time was the director of the camp) with the Salesians in NJ.

Also, the very first clothing ceremony I ever saw was when I was at camp, the sisters took us over to the Motherhouse to see a group of their postulants get clothed. It was very different from what one might see today - including the sisters coming in in bridal gowns - which I know still happens in some communties...but shortly after the procession up the aisle, the girs were covered by a funeral pall while the choir chanted the Dies Irea. There was much weeping by parents - particularly the fathers. I'm guessing the funeral pall evoked most of those tears. I thought it was absolutely astoundingly beautiful but then again as a little kid I probably didn't really "get" the whole funeral pall significance - it may have scared me if I did.

My grammar school also had the St. Dominc Savio club - I'm not sure how a bunch of Fransicans wound up bringing a Salesian club to their students, but it worked out very well - good formation for kids.

Fr Chavez (The rector major, DB's successor) was saying,

We are Salesians! Don't you want to sing? Don't you want to dance? Everyone on their feet! (Stand up)

Siamo Salesiani! (We are Salesians!)

I cannot catch the rapping part, though.

 • 1 year later...

Today is the feast of Don Bosco, so I am resurrecting this thread. Play the link in the first post--just for few minutes, everyone can do a Salesian happy dance in his honor!

The Salesians are amesome! They are very busy, busy, busy! I'm already tired...

I met one on a plane. My mother whispered to me as we were boarding "wouldn't it be funny if you sat next to her?!" I didn't, but I did meet her at one point. She was so wonderful and on her way to a vacation at another convent.

Happy feast day, Salesians!
