Oh, yeah, I've seen them many times! ;) I went there to visit in August 2008 and I got to meet Noah. He is so sweet! Very shy though. :)

My friend, Elizabeth, is entering there this October 1st! Please pray for her and the Sisters. God bless!

If you go to this page of their website - http://www.carmelitedcj.org/formation.asp - and scroll down some, on the right hand side is a section called "IN THE NEWS" and it lists these two articles.

InHisLove726,

Congratulations on your upcooming entrance! And to your friend Elizabeth. I will keep you both in my prayers. I am discerning with Carmel and have been contacting the Sheffield Carmel in the UK for a while and hope to visit in a few months, so I can relate to your "Carmelite Heart"!

Thank you, Laudem. ;) I should mention, though, that my province is the Northern Province, not the Central. The one I am applying to is in Milwaukee, and my friend is entering in the Central in St. Louis, MO. Both are very beautiful! :)

I'll be praying for your trip to Sheffield! They look AMAZING from the pictures! :)

Hi InHisLove726,

I do remember you being interested in the Milwaukee province but I had gone surfing to their other provinces and found the articles.

Are you interested in this Milwaukee province because it's nearest to you or did you visit the others and just felt "at home" with the Milwaukee one? If you don't mind me asking, if you do than please don't! lol!

I wrote them a while back but which ever province I wrote to said they didn't take past their age limit. With my first inquiry, they sent me a softcover book on the bio of the foundress - which I can't find now but if I could I'd send it to you, though you may have it already. Then when I wrote back, I got the "no" answer. But way back then, I was not writing very much in my inquiry letter and have since learned that I have to lay it all out to save both sides the back and forth just to find they wouldn't accept me in the first place!

They are a beautiful order. I loved their foundress after reading her book.

I visited the St. Louis province and felt completely awkward there. I was too young in my discernment and I didn't feel right about it. The only part that felt right was praying in the choir with the Sisters.

I went to Milwaukee after praying for a sign of where to go. I asked Jesus to send me a firm sign as to which order to visit because I had no idea where to go next. I was worried about my depression getting in the way. Two days after that prayer, I got a Christmas card from the Milwaukee Sisters with a note inside that said, "Is God gently calling you to religious life?" That was all I needed! A month later, I bought my ticket, and in February, I went to visit them after emailing Sr. Immaculata back and forth, and sending her a letter explaining my situation. They welcomed me with open arms. I felt very at home there. I felt like I was in a small family with all the nuns. I could picture myself living out the rest of my life with all of them.

Before I visited them, I read Mother Foundress' autobiography front to back. I fell in love with her order and just knew, even before visiting, that this is what God had planned for me. I felt like I was her little spiritual daughter, and I would love to join her order and serve God in the same capacity that she desired to serve. She was so humble and full of love for all her daughters. :D

I actually got to see the staircase that she described in her dream of the Milwaukee home for the Children. It was breathtaking! I also got to see the room that the Sisters dedicated to her and I could feel the love that she surrounded the home with. I just knew this was the place.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't accepted. St. Louis is a little more strict in their application process because of some problems they have had in the past. I'm not at liberty to discuss them here because I don't know the whole story. But I can certainly understand, with the information that I have, why they have the procedures in place. You might try the Northern Province or even the Southwestern Province to see if you could visit there. I don't know which Province you applied to, but, if you feel called, don't give up. Even though St. Louis wasn't my home, I understood, after a while, that God had a plan for me in the same order but a different part. I live more than 1,000 miles away from my future home, so it was definitely not because I am close to them. :)

Unfortunately, my province doesn't keep up the newsletters like St. Louis does. :( I wish they did. I love reading about the Sisters. Two of my future Sisters have Facebook pages so I try to keep up with them there. One of the Sisters, Sr. Paula Maria, met me in Milwaukee and I keep in touch with her quite often. :)
Thats a awesome information.
Great order too! whats the difference between the other porvince from central?
The Central Province includes St. Louis, MO and Owensboro, KY. They work with the elderly and they also have a childcare facility.

The Northern Province (my province; also known as the American Motherhouse) includes Wauwatosa (Milwaukee), WI, Kenosha, WI, Grand Rapids, MI, and East Chicago, IN. They have a Carmelite Home for Boys in Milwaukee, attached to the Motherhouse. They also have a Carmelite Girls Home in East Chicago with a Holy Innocents Center available for emergency cases. They have two elderly homes, one in Kenosha (St. Joseph's) and one in Grand Rapids (St. Ann's). I also just read about a Home in Detroit that combines the children and the aged into one apostolate. For more information, visit here:

There is also a Southwestern Province and a Canadian Province which I have never been to or met any of the Sisters.

If you would like more information on either of those provinces, I can find the information for you and you can contact them directly.

God bless you!
