Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters

I'm really interested in the idea of paying the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (Pink Nuns) a visit. I am drawn to the life of contemplation and perpetual adoration has always been something I've searched for. I know it would be difficult to give up nursing, but I am really drawn to contemplative prayers. Has anyone ever visited the Pink Nuns? What is their life like? Please feel free to tell your experiences. :D

I've been to their monastery in St. Louis before. Very beautiful. The sisters were incredibly gracious.
If you are interested in their charism/way of life, why not write the Vocation directress/Superior (I don't know which you contact there) and ask for information?

A former PM'er entered the pink sisters two year or so ago......Does anyone else remember her? She was a airline stewardess....she entered the pink sisters in St. Louis. I know a local news station did a story on her, you know one of those religious vocation stories. I know the video is on PM...I will try to locate it. Anyway, I called a few times to check up on her...The sisters are extremely nice and helpful. Mother is super nice and easy to talk to...I even asked her advice on my own vocation. Anyway, if you have any more questions about them feel free to ask...I do know a little about them or you can always call and talk to Mother. Iam sure she would be more than happy to help.

I remember early in my discernment while I was looking into Monasteries, I came across them. Other than that I don't know much about them. I once almost started discernment with the Discalced Carmelites of St. Joseph in St. Louis. They have Benediction everyday.

If your interested:

I think I will contact the ones in St. Louis. I'm also thinking about contacting the Discalced Carmelite Nuns in Arlington, TX again. I was discerning with them for a while before I thought about being an active/contemplative again.

The "Pink Nuns" look so interesting. I just love that they have perpetual adoration and their habit is intriguing. Of course, I would never choose a community based on those two things, but I know the Holy Spirit works on attraction (lol, that's kind of ironic with the habit and Holy Spirit). :)

I'm also thinking about writing the Little Sisters of the Poor and the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, MI. :)

The Pink Sisters have several monasteries in the US; I am familiar with the St. Louis Pink Sisters in that I have visited their chapel many times and helped contribute to their recent new construction. The St. Louis monastery is located in a neighborhood that has seen better days, but one of the reasons I admire them is that they decided to stay put with the poor people of the city. They have foundations in the Phillippines and it is not unusual for them to send Filipino sisters to spend some time in the States. When they have to leave the monastery for necessary business, they wear a gray habit rather than the pink. I think if you are interested, you should write them.

I remember TeresaAvila too! I saw her a few times in the chapel when she was a postulant. Does anyone know if she is still there?

you said it right! for me we should not enter a congregation because of their habits or what. we enter an congregation or order because God wants it.

I know the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters.

I'll share you an experience with them. When I was a super kid (I think I was 5), my mom would point out the nuns behind the grilles and I cannot understand what's happening. "Their behind the grilles, so what?" this was my thought then... Fast forward to eleven years I went to a monastery in my country (which is very far from us) with a great excitement. I wish I could talk to them! They have a beautiful charism, this perpetual adoration. Perpetual adoration is a very beautiful charism.

I think I'm going to make a list of what communities I feel called to contact. So far, these are the ones I'm really thinking about:

LOL! :lol_roll: I'm still open to other possibilities. I want to take this slowly, but I also don't want to wait too long. :) I look at this like dating your future Spouse (which it very much is). The more you know, the better, especially when you will be spending the rest of your life there.

In The Arms of The Lord

I was in discernment with the Carmel of Ada. Mother Elizabeth Ann of the Mother of God (i'm sure she still is the Mother there) seems to be a very sweet lady. She sent me a lot of beautiful information. I was in longer discernment with the Carmel in Pittsford NY. The Mother there also sent me a lot of information about their Monastery and her letters are very kind and welcoming. I really enjoyed that at the end of her letters she wrote "your Carmelite Sisters." :)

Keeping you in my prayers during your discernment. I'm excited to find out where Our precious Jesus is going to take you!

I'll keep you updated. :) You have to promise to write about your experiences with Buffalo Carmel next month, though! I really want to know more about them. :D
