Does anyone know of an order (female) that has a devotion to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts and praying for priests other than the Order of the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Ohio? :scratchhead:
Thanks

You could look into these orders:

Oblates of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
http://www.oblatesistersofshj.com/
http://db.religiouslife.com/reg_life/irl.nsf/org/119

They pray for priestly holiness and also take care of ill and retired priests.

Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary

http://www.cmswr.org/member_communities/SCTJM.htm

I would really recommend both of these orders. Both are in line with the Church and are CMSWR members. :)

Are you thinking of a cloistered order?

The Missionaries of Charity Contemplative. They're very much dedicated to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts and they also have a devotion for praying for priests although it's not a specific apostolate.

The Trinitarians of Mary (www.trinitariansofmary.org) are a contemplative order with perpetual adoration but they are not cloistered. I don't know if they're dedicated to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts but I know that they must be dedicated at least to the Immaculate Heart since they have a devotion to OL of Fatima. Their main charism is to pray for priests and a part of their convent serves as a retreat house for priests. Their founder is also still alive and I heard that she is extremely holy. She reminds me of [Edit: Blessed]Mother Teresa. Their motherhouse is in Mexico but they have foundations in the U.S. (in Grand Rapids, MI and in San Diego, CA). Also, a Sister has to spend at least a year in Mexico at the motherhouse as part of her formation. I am also sure that they accept candidates who have health issues.

Only two criteria is still a little vague--at least for me.

The Holy Ghost works on attraction--just keep that in mind.

Yes, I was thinking something more contemplative, semi-cloistered or cloistered. Gemma, I know I only gave two criteria, and I know it's vague, but it comes back to the Carmelite/Francisacan attraction. I asked the question because these two things are what I really feel devoted to. I was hoping someone could think up of something that I may not of heard of before. ( I hope I don't come across as sounding snappy.)

Thanks for all the suggestions you've given already. I had forgotten about the Trinitarians of Mary.

Have you ever given thought to the Visitation orders (VHM)?? Their seal is the two hearts, pierced with a lance. :) St. Francis de Sales said this in a letter to St. Jane de Chantal about the seal:

"The Lord gave me this thought during the middle of the night; that our house of the Visitation is by his grace, noble and important enough to have its own coat of arms, its escutcheon...So I have thought, dear Mother, if you agree, we should take as our coat or arms a single heart pierced by two arrows, the whole enclosed in a crown of thorns, and with the poor heart serving to hold and support a cross which is to surmount it; and the heart is to be engraved with the sacred names of Jesus and Mary.. for indeed our little congregation is the work of the hearts of Jesus and Mary."

They are, of course, a cloistered, contemplative order who's sole mission is prayer, especially for priests. They are especially devoted to the Sacred Heart as seen by St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a Visitation nun, in the 17th century in Paray-le-Monial, France.

I hope to visit the Mobile Visitandines later this year, but I would also like to go to Snellville and Tyringham. :D

I hope this helps. It just crossed my mind that you might want to take a look at this because I remembered reading about the seal, and it seemed perfect.

I did think about them for a time, but for the last while I was really focused on Carmelites ( and perhaps mislead myself.) Anyhoo, I didn't know that was their seal. I remember reading Tyringham's vocation corner and I quite like that they are cloistered and that they have penances but that they are more about curbing your own desires than doing bodily punishment.
Thanks for the suggestion.

You're welcome. Tyringham's website is where I first learned about the order, so I always refer back to them. ;)

Would you be interested in an Order outside the English speaking world?

The Oblate Sisters of Christ the Priest is a wonderful congregation. They are cloistered contemplatives, very prayerful, and faithful to the Church. They live an austere life and have physical penance too.

You have some information here, although this is not an official web from the Sisters themselves:
http://www.oblatasdecristosacerdote.com/en...768p/index.html

They make their final profession ALWAYS on the Feast Day of the Sacre Heart, as an expression of their very especial devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and also to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Peace, and prayers in your discernment.

The SSPX nuns have both of those devotions, but they're not cloistered and probably not kosher for the board either  . I wouldn't join them myself.

I only speak English and some French (probably passible for a cloister but not an active apostolate.) I would consider going outside of North America (there is an English speaking Dominican convent in Fatima that I have thought about contacting from time-to-time) but I do not feel called to leave the continent.
No SSPX, but to be fair if they regularized, I might seriously consider a couple of their communities. That said, I do like the EF, so even the Benedictines of Mary or the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart (the one that is in communion) might be options, but I don't know whether they include these devotions.
Thanks again for the communities, I really do appreciate it and your prayers.

The Sisters of St. Joan of Arc in Quebec (with American houses) started with a tremendous devotion to the Sacred Heart, and were founded to work in rectories. They are very contemplative, and Archbishop Sean blogged about them. If you google "Sisters of St. Joan of Arc," the blog entry will come up.

Blessings,
Gemma

The Benedictines of Mary are not associated with the SSPX. (They're one of the few traditional communities in the U.S. that are in union with Rome.) I visited them for a week two years ago. They're a lovely community. I don't believe that they have either of those devotions though.
