What a beautiful community. I pray they receive many vocations. Their presence is definitely needed in St. Louis. :)

Wow, I feel like St. Louis has like a hundred and one religious orders there. Can't any of them come here?? I guess we here in Detroit can't really complain since the DSMMEs live so close to us :)

Wow! That's so exciting! (St. Francis de Sales Oratory is my friend's parish--how wonderful to have an order of women like this establish themselves there. And it's such a beautiful church: here) The Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest is awesome enough by itself. I'm very glad they have a sister order to pray for them. They have beautiful habits too--especially the blue mantles.

I feel the same about Kansas City. Ah well, perhaps St. Louis needs more spiritual help than our cities do? :lol_roll:

I wish some would come to Florida. I only know of two habited orders in this state--Sister Servants of the Home of the Mother, and the Sisters of the Most Holy Soul of Christ.

I think the situation will improve. (Granted, I gave into the trend and am moving to St. Louis for the rest of my life. But still. :D). They may be having an Apostolic Visitation for women's religious communities now, but look how many people our age (well...I'm assuming your age. :) 18-late 20s, I mean) are discerning/entering religious life. It's so awesome to see.

I just turned 26. :) The order of the Sisters of the Most Holy Soul of Christ are not very well known, but they are a member of CMSWR, so that's in their favor. I considered them for a while, but I do not desire to be an active missionary. I want to be a missionary through prayer. ;)

St. Louis is very blessed to have a number of solid orders (The Carmelite DCJs and the Martyrs of St. George have provincial houses in the diocese, plus the Daughters of St. Paul, the Passionists, the Poor Clares, the Pink Sisters, Little Sisters of the Poor, and the Nashville Dominicans have houses there, just to name a few).

However, when looking to establish an order somewhere, there must be a few important things:
-significant need of the order in that diocese
-support of the bishop
-and a way to financially support the order

As cities go, St. Louis is VERY Catholic and also have a large base of fans of the Latin Mass, thus the draw for the Adorers (and the ability to financially support the endeavor).

NB: I don't want to water it down to a purely financial decision- they're working with the Holy Spirit here, and that's the most important thing! I'm very happy, and I hope that they thrive there!

The Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary and the Daughters of St. Paul are both in Miami. The Salesian Sisters are in Tampa. The Sacred Heart Carmelites (CA) have a convent in Coral Gables, FL. I believe either the Nashville Dominicans or the Mary, Mother of the Eucharist Dominicans are in Ave Maria, FL.
And, I would be willing to bet there are more orders (especially Spanish speaking orders) in Miami.

I totally forgot about the Servants of the Pierced Hearts, but I didn't even know about the others! Praised be Jesus Christ! :))

Don't forget all of our active orders that have their Motherhouses and General Directors located in St. Louis! It is really an amazing city, filled with many representations of our Church!

The SMME's are at Ave. :) They also have two other habited communities as well, but I forget which they are at the moment. I think one is Benedictine, but I might be wrong.

We do have the Benedictine Sisters in St. Leo, FL, but they are not habited.

The great thing is that we have an order of Discalced Carmelite Friars from Poland who have a house here in Bunnell, FL. I have been there and it's so simple and beautiful. They have an awesome place to walk the Stations of the Cross, plus the Mysteries of the Rosary. I went there for a post-retreat with some of my friends, and we participated in Adoration. I loved it! I'm so happy to have some Carmelite Friars so close by! :))

Ave also has the Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother. The sisters I met were amazing.

And I'm not sure what the last community was, I just remember seeing a black sister in a black habit riding around on a bicycle. We waved to one another.
