Obama Weighs In On Canonization

At first I was pleasantly surprised to be reading that our President was excited about Blessed Damien de Veuster being canonized.
Then I read the line that said:
"In our own time as millions around the world suffer from disease, especially the pandemic of HIV/AIDS, we should draw on the example of Fr. Damien's resolve in answering the urgent call to heal and care for the sick."
...And I couldn't help but wonder if this was a subtle undercut against the Church's consistent stand against contraceptive practices in Africa. Obama could have cited swine flu or anything but he specifically cited a disease for which the Catholic Church has received nothing but vitriol from Modernity and especially the progressive left.
Maybe I'm just too senstive and am reading something into nothing...What do you guys think?

I think you're too sensitive and need to realize that the Church is not the center of everyone's world. Not everything is some subtle attack against the Church.
The swine flu is not an incurable, almost always fatal disease which afflicts tens of millions.

(

) Not everything that comes out of Obama's mouth has to be veiled propaganda.
Propaganda, yes. Veiled, not always.
