I am a lay contemplative under private vows with an apostolate of praying for the souls
of people who:

• are seriously ill
• are dying or have died
• are suffering in the depth of despair

In addition, I pray fervently for the souls of people who have given their lives over to evil, such as:

• those promoting abortion and euthanasia
• those actively turning people, especially the young, away from God
• those in the drug trade - producing, selling, seducing people into use
• anyone who is maintaining and advancing the works of evil in the world

I am a retired social worker who has worked both in palliative care and with men and women living on the margins of society. I have journeyed with good church-going people who fall into utter despair approaching the end of their lives, not knowing how to turn to God in trust and faith; also with the perpetrators and the victims of what I can only call evil in our world.

What I've seen in the majority of these folks is the fear that comes from not truly knowing Jesus personally, and from broken hearts and lives that have been too hard to bear: Fear that turns some away from God, that bursts out of some in anger or in others cuts them off from any hope of love.  However, I've also seen the power of love and prayer, and the desperate desire of most to know there is someone who loves them no matter what.

That is my prayer and purpose: that everyone will know the love of God and be washed in the abyss of His mercy; that every soul will cry out to God, even in the very last moment of their very last hour, and surrender heart and soul to Him.
