School, eh? I just signed up for a distance-learning course with a college. It is in Grammar. It ought to be fun. :)

I've got to laugh at the new subforum name "Raising Small Humans" lol. What's wrong with "children"?

What's with the "Beer Review"?

I'm glad to see they are doing a NFP forum; it kind of fits the marriage forum that people were wanting.

The course I am taking is a distance learning course as well. It's taken online. Although I am within driving distance of the school I am enrolled in for the online course, I opted to take it online so I could study more at my own pace. The class I am taking is Art History I. :)

Pretty neat! :) I almost registered for Composition 101 with the college, but then learned about the distance, and on many levels, it just worked out better at this time. Mainly, I don't feel ready to jump into Composition; the Grammar course will ease me in and it will be less pressure. I'm thinking of doing the Composition, or a few steps under, in some months if all works out well.

Yeah, English can be a bit tricky at times, even if you are fluent in the language. ;) I hated all the writing I had to do in my English Comp. and Humanities courses. Unfortunately, the bad thing is that Art History is essentially a Humanities course, so there will be some writing involved. I'd rather be taking Humanities than English. At least I have something to look forward to! I'm planning to change my major to Art History if everything works out and I like the course. Otherwise, I'm planning to major in History with a Minor in Classical Civilization. I love Greek and Roman culture. My mom asked me what I was planning to do with either of these majors. If I major in Art History, I plan to become a Curator/Exhibition Specialist at an art museum. If I major in History, I plan to get my Master's degree in Library Science and become a Librarian. :)

What are you majoring in? Do you have an idea yet?

I don't have a desire for college at this time. I mean, I'm just looking to improve my English as writing is what I'm weakest in and I need to write for so many things in life.

Who knows where it might lead though, but mainly I feel called to the Religious Life above all else, and I'm not easily inclined to education. I've handled advanced courses before, but with my ADHD and learning disabilities, everything takes me longer, and my comprehension/attention/retention/retrieval/memory/organization is weak.

The main reason I am wanting to improve my writing is because I learned about the Apostolate of giving retreats/conferences/talks, and I thought, if that's what I'm called to, and really with everything anyway, I need to write and think well. English should certainly help with that.

Speaking of English, did you notice the top of the forum reads: "All your Church are belong to us"? Not sure what they meant to say.

Oh, that's definitely understandable! Another course that might help you is a Speech Communication or Public Speaking class. It was required for my Associates degree, but it's also a great class to take to build confidence and help with voice projection and clear communication. I got a B in the course. Most colleges list the Speech courses under the English and Communications section in their class schedules. :)

Speech Communication, interesting. I'll have to look into that. Thank you.
