Wow, great list Sr. B! I've read He is My Heaven, and really loved it .. :nunpray:

Ah, this reminds me!! The Carmel in Eugene, OR sells a bunch of rare/not as available elsewhere books for great prices .. and they have this book, Mariam the Little Arab. It is published by them actually, although they sell it at the Carmel in Bethlehem too. A friend of mine got me a copy of it from there when he was in the Holy Land. It was written by Fr. Amédée Brunot S.C.J. in French in 1981, and a nun at the Carmel in Eugene helped translate it. I've only read parts of it so far, but those parts were good! Did you know the Lord allowed her to be possessed twice by the devil? :0 So anyway, here's their Book List. I sent them a letter some time last year I think it was, asking if they still have those books available and they do. I forget if the prices went up, but I don't think so. And really I would recommend all the books there, though I haven't read them .. especially anything by Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdalen, OCD! He's the one who wrote all the meditations in Divine Intimacy. Fr. Gabriel must have been a holy preist to have written such beautiful meditations in Divine Intimacy!....He must have been a big fan of St. Teresa of Avila and St. Therese of Lesiux given that he quotes them alot in this book....and both were carmelite nuns hehe.

I used to live in Rochester NY, so I have visited the Carmel there often. I do not think that Sr. Marie Christine (Frances Nevins) ever lived at the Rochester Carmel. I am not sure about the dates, but in the mid 1990's (?) the Rochester Carmel was down to small numbers of elderly sisters so it closed and the remaining sisters went to a senior care home run by the Sisters of St Joseph of Rochester. A few years later the Schenectady nuns moved in to the Rochester monastery because their monastery in Schenectady was getting old and (I think) was in a neighborhood that was becoming noisy and unsafe. That would explain why they would have the photographs from their time in Schenectady.
