These are the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary - while a secular institute, many still employ a fairly traditional habit and are known for their great devotion to our Blessed Mother under the title of Mary, Thrice Admirable.

These are the Anglican Sisters of Bethany

And sporting a very similar habit are the ecumenically-minded, Servants of the Sacred Cross, composed of both Anglican and Roman Catholic sisters. I understand that this group is in the process of discernment about the possibility of entering the new Anglican Ordinariate promulgated by Benedict XVI.

Me too!

Here's a couple of pictures of the sisters of the Order of Julian of Norwich, an Anglican religious community.

I share the photos of these sisters/nuns below only to show their particular habits. They are NOT in union with Rome. I am not aware of a similar habit that might exist within a Catholic religious community today, unless someone else might know.

[sup]What is the name of the religious community of sisters standing next to the EMTS and where were these photos taken? Maybe they are affiliated with the Society of St.Pius the 10th?Rather unique habit. They are wearing a blue cloak with a cross on it,and inside of that you see a long blue shirt with a white long sleeved blouse, and a cape with a religious sybmbol on it.[/sup]

Community of the Magnificat out of Quebec. They follow the LaSalette spirituality but are schismatic. I think they even ordain women.

Gemma

Gemma,

You are correct, this community does ordain women. However, quite curiously, they insist that they are traditionalist Catholic's.
And indeed, it does seem that many of their particular devotions and their outward witness is more inclined to a tradional catholic ethos, but they are far removed from Rome.

Perhaps a recognized order could fashion a similar habit and have as their charism the return of schismatic communities?

Just a thought.

Almost sounds like what the Mother of the Church sisters could do.

We have a proposed charism for the UK which would wear a similar mantle.

I have on most of the affiliate new foundation websites that discerners have to be reconciled to Rome before making application. But what you propose is most certainly intriguing.

Blessings,
Gemma

With the number of schismatic groups that are out there today, I think that a new charism devoted to the reconciliation of these schismatic communities would be a very appropriate.

Incidentally, it could be based off of the LaSalette spirituality which focuses heavily on the theme of reconciliation. And such a new community could been seen as analogous with the Society of the Atonement, which itself was created through the spirit of reconciliation.

In fact, the Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Church have largely credited their entrance into full communion with Rome, through the prayers of the Missionaries of Charity sisters who had been praying specifically for their reconciliation.

Conceivably, the habit of this proposed charism could be based off of the traditional colors associated with Our Lady of LaSalette.

We have the Handmaid Consolers of Our Lady of LaSalette: http://cloisters.tripod.com/lasalette/

Please pray for the two who were to found it. They have been forced underground by occultist relatives.

Perhaps this group you propose could be their active branch? The habit seems to indicate the Rule of St Augustine with Dominican-based constitutions.

Are you feeling called to make a new foundation?

Blessings,
Gemma
