From the recent Solemn Profession at what is hopefully my future community! The newly professed sister is Sister Elizabeth, I believe the two novices are Sister Marie Therese and Sister Mary Thomas if I remember correctly.

And another picture from that community. If I am correct, I can't quite tell, that is Sister Mary David, the Novice Mistress.

The habits shown here lately, while beautiful in their own right, have all looked to be the same, plain ol' prototypical Benedictine style habits . . . glad to see the bright fuchsia cords though! Refreshing! :like2:

Wow, how would you eat with that ruffle around your chin? I'd be dripping soup on it all the time!

Makes me feel claustrophobic just looking at it.

And half my food ends up on my clothes anyway, so I'm glad what I'm looking at is a lifetime of black on black :hehe2:

EDIT: Chenoweth!!

In fairness, most traditional habits do seem a little claustrophobic. :nun:

Check out these Orthodox habits.

Woop woop! Yeah they're pretty intense - that's the tipper-toppermost level of nun, hardly ANYONE gets to it. That photo is a rarity in itself, seeing so many Great Schema nuns together. The 'standard' nun is what the other nun in the picture is wearing. (Plus she's got a cross because she's an Abbess.) My nuns' church habits are made from some lovely light material, it's almost translucent and very c.ool. Their mantles are made of wool but apart from that the whole lot doesn't look too heavy.

Yeah seriously though even I am impressed by those Great Schemas :saint2:

Reminds me of the old Sisters of Holy Cross habits though theirs is more back

I think a Holy Cross priest told me that the sisters would make snow angels and the angels would have halos from their wimple(?). :hehe2: You should see the machine they had to use to flute them!
