Yeah, I was going to post an edit on it because I was clicking some of the links and most of them are broken. :(

That I didn't know! I just scanned some of the communities. It's a shame no one is keeping this site updated! It would be such a good source for older vocations! At least it's a start though.

I'm strongly considering starting a database for vocations sort of like Deo Est Gloria, but better. The only problem is that it would probably take me a long time to finish it since I'm in school this semester.
This blog entry may hold interest for you, especially in the comments after the entry. http://anunslife.org/2007/08/15/becoming-a-nun-after-40ish/
I have been online doing some cross-referencing and searching regarding one comment out of many. The comment from Kathleen Marie Marshall got my attention and I had to look long and carefully to find out some updated information.

Kathleen Marie's comment to the blog intry at A Nun's Life, referenced the Sisters of the Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ. She posted from the archdiocese of Chicago, Illinois, and described herself as a foundress or co-foundress of these Sisters.
Before attempting this foundation, Kathleen Marie was with the now-defunct Handmaids of Nazareth, who were founded by Marilyn Yvonne Rosedale, variously known as "Mother Yvonne" or "Mother Mary Yvonne." Don't know if this has been reported on Phatmass, but Mrs. Rosedale died two years ago.

Now, I can't be certain about this next thing that turned up, however it bears mentioning.
The following quote comes from Catholic Answers Forums at catholic.com and is dated September 2010.

"I was a Catholic Sister in the Handmaids of Nazareth for six years until they dissolved. Then tried to start.... a new religious community (The Sisters of the Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ), with one of my other Sisters. However I stopped it at the end of July 2010 when I realized that a few things were not right. (Private)
I am starting over, out of a habit and back into regular clothes!
....I am in formation with the "Widows of Prayer", an Association of the Faithful out of [Appleton, Diocese of Green Bay] Wisconsin."

Interesting and thank you for the research and sharing. I saw your entry on another thread re the "Widows of Prayer" and had a look at their website.
Seems Kathleen Marie has been through quite a bit and I hope she finds her place with the Widows of Prayer if that is where she is and that the comment from her on A Nun's Life re the Sisters of The Real Presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ no longer applies.

Mamma Mia! Y'all did a fantastic job recommending Orders!

The Religious Sisters of Mercy (Alma, Michigan) have made exceptions and let in women in their late 40's or early 50's.

The Domincan nuns of West Springfield, MA have on their website http://www.vocationws.com/ they take women up to 50. This community has adopted the traditional Dominican habit and are re-installing the grilles in their parlors. They are cloistered contemplative nuns who have perpetual adoration and perpetual rosary.

Yes, if I recall correctly, a woman was permitted to enter who had first gotten involved with the local Chapter of the Dominican Laity, the Chapter whose director is one of the cloistered nuns; this woman positively was no longer young. She went straight through and made solemn profession in due course.

Miriam Kavanagh

Yes! My name is Miriam Kavanagh and I am a novice with the Sisters of the Lamb of God. Our formation house is located in Owensboro, Kentucky. We just had a sister make final vows last year at the age of 55 and we will have another one make final vows next May at the age of 67. We have missions in Cameroon and Juarez, Mexico. Our motherhouse is located in Brest, France where we were founded. You can check us out on the web at http://sistersofthelambofgod.org. You can also check out our Facebook page at facebook.com/sistersofthelambofgod. We have just started partnering with the Christian Appalachian Project in Eastern Kentucky. Our founder looked around and saw that orders were not accepting women over the customary age of 30 or those with chronic illnesses and the Holy Spirit moved him to change that. Our charism is to accept all who have the call to religious life because that is the way to fulfill God's Kingdom. In addition to accepting women of various ages and physical abilities, we also have no set apostolate--you do what you love and what you are good at for the glory of God. Hope this helps.

Miriam Kavanagh

Yes! My name is Miriam Kavanagh and I am a novice with the Sisters of the Lamb of God. I am 37 now and I entered as a candidate two years ago. We have a sister who just made her final vows last year at the age of 55 and another who will make her final vows next year at the age of 67. Our formation house in America is located in Owensboro, Kentucky, which is located on the very beautiful Ohio River. Our motherhouse is in Brest, France, where we were founded. We have missions in Cameroon, Africa and Juarez, Mexico. We have just started to partner with the Christian Appalachian Project in Eastern Kentucky.

We were founded by a Jesuit and that is what our spirituality is based on. He looked around and saw that orders were not accepting women over the customary age of 30, those with chronic illnesses, or those who had been marginalized by society, so the Holy Spirit moved him to create an order for these dedicated women with a religious vocation. Our charism is to accept all women with the call to the religious life which fulfills God's Kingdom. In addition to our unique charism, we also have no set apostolate, you do what you're good at and what you love for the glory of God.

May God bless you in all that you do and in your search for the congregation that best suits you.

Sr. Mary Jeremiah OP

There's a new diocesan community in the Diocese of Tyler (Texas). I don't know their web address, but they're called the "Daughters of Hope". The founder is Mother Susan Catherine, a former County Judge and widow of a Permanent Deacon.

Best to you,

Sr. Mary Jeremiah, OP

New order of Poor Clares:  http://www.companionsofclare.org/

"We wish to create a Roman Catholic community following the Primitive Rule of St. Clare, involving older women. The primary focus in the organization of our group will be women 62 or older who left religious life and wish to reenter, or those who wish to give the rest of their lives to God.  However, we realize the Spirit may direct others to us, so we will be willing to accept other age brackets. Originally this concept was meant to fill a personal need. However, very few people stand alone so the concept of this community was developed to provide a venue for others."

I looled on the Diocese of Portland ME website and this community is not listed. That doesn't mean that they do not have approval but until it can be confirmed please refrain from posting about this community. If someone does find additional info please PM me.
