In the novitiate, most religious get some theology of religious life.

Benedictines who are ordained to priesthood of course get the philosophy /theology that comes with that. 

For the professed, it could be part of their "labora" - for example those who teacher or write on these subjects.  Every monastery is different, but the custom I've noticed with Benedictine nuns is that they are remarkably good about letting individuals pursue interests and make use of talents within the monastery.
