Summer continues here....a morning without the wretched westerlies. The only downside of living here in Wanganui NZ. The grass is very browned off. Temperature currently around 20. Some fires around NZ, but as this is a very SMALL country we are talking a few hectares at a time. The fiordland and the south has had some spectacular rainfall..(metres).

Here is one cyclone (Cyclone Uesi) you were wondering about, P60 - it is about to hit the Queensland coast:

Worst is yet to come for flood-ravaged Queensland

Queensland is set to cop even more flood damage with multiple storm fronts expected to dump a deluge on the state in coming days.

A cyclone is forming over Noumea and tracking towards the state's southeast coast with the worst of it expected to hit on Thursday.

God of hope and mercy, we lift up all the victims of Australian Bush Fires and those who are working to rescue and assistance them. We pray that You will heal them, protect them and comfort them from every danger. We ask that you deliver aid to all who are in need. Please give consolation to those who are grieving and bless all who are helping to rescue.  We pray for healing and restoration. Amen.

It is far too easy, within the current upsurge of creative input in the realm of worship, to find ourselves chasing spiritual or aesthetic experiences, as if the highest achievement of our whole pilgrimage on earth were to enter some kind of praise-induced ecstasy! I am, in fact, all in favour of spiritual experiences when they are genuine, and welcome ecstasies that are the gifts of God and not artificially induced, but if such things become the AIM of our gatherings for worship, then we have turned the gospel upside down.
