TEXAS new law - whena heart beat is detected..

So Texas has this new restriction on abortion, as soon as a hear beat can be detected.

They went about it in an innovative way; people can sue, but it is not criminal to help or perform an abortion.  Anyone who helps an illegal abortion can be sued, except for the patient

There is quite a bit of chaos in Texas now, and the media is full of stories villifying whoever is prolife.  Even in Canada the debate seems to gain new wind.

Not sure if the new law is tenable though.  The supreme cpurt refused to ban it from takimg effect; that at least is something.

Q:    what does the Biden administration and The Satanic Temple have in common?

A:   Both are going to sue Texas over the heartbeat abortion bill.  You could say that they're comrades or allies in the genocide.

my favorite response is from Bette Midler who is demanding that women refuse to have sex with men until this law is overturned.

My first thought is "Whoever is having sex with Bette must be thrilled right now"

My second thought was "Is my wife a fan of Bette Midler?"

While I don't endorse using sex as a manipulative tool, I did get a good laugh at the angry women on twitter threatening abstinence when confronted with the reality of the procreative nature of sex.

Sort of related to this topic is that I was watching a video of the Flight 93 Memorial and one of the passengers that perished was pregnant. So they had the woman's name plus "and unborn child" inscribed on the marble.

So if in an alternate scenario, if the woman (or either parent) decided that they didn't want or plan the baby, it would cease to be a child worthy of inscription on marble?

Obviously most of us understand the answer but I thought it was something interesting that I saw in the video. Surely there would be people that would object to this inscription even existing for the obvious reasons that make them uncomfortable.

If the truth makes them uncomfortable then SO BE IT!

I didn't say it was a problem, I figured that was understood.

news flash

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a temporary order to reinstate the Texas fetal heartbeat law, known as SB 8, on Friday night. The temporary order came just one day after clinics quickly began performing abortions in Texas for the first time since September 1 when the new law went into effect.

meanwhile... the biggest and most powerful abortion advocate, Nancy is meeting the pope  for tea and cookies.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with Pope Francis at the Vatican Saturday morning amid mounting furor over abortion rights in the US.

A smiling Pelosi gripped the Pontiff’s hand tightly in a series of photos released by the Vatican. She was escorted by her husband Paul Pelosi — a noted investor — and Patrick Connell, the Charges d’Affaires of the US Embassy to the Vatican, in her visit to the Apostolic Palace.

Pelosi meets the pope?

Any details released as to the conversation?

I trust our papa held strong - may God continue to bless him, carry him and protect him always.

Ash Wednesday

Speaker Pelosi:

Pope Francis “is a source of joy and hope for Catholics…challenging each of us to be good stewards of God’s creation, to act on climate, to embrace the refugee, the immigrant and the poor, and to recognize the dignity and divinity in everyone”

Everyone, Nancy?
