DisplayNameBlock Posted September 13, 2022 Share Posted September 13, 2022 It doesn't say this in this particular piece, but one of my favorite Alice of Battenberg tidbits is that though she could fully lip-read and speak multiple languages, when the Nazis knocked on her door looking for hidden Jews (she was protecting a woman and her daughter), she evaded them by pretending not to understand them!
