Haha, no way. See how we run into each other. :P

I'm doing well. How about you? We'll have to try to catch each other on AIM so we can catch up. :D

God bless,
Sarah

I'm procrastinating, but I'm going to write to:

The Conventual Sisters of St Dominic:

and

The Oblates of Mary, Queen of Apostles:
http://www.oblatesofmary.com/

I know that the latter are full, but I have a few years of debts to pay off, so hopefully they will have more room then. Does anyone know anything more about these ones? New Ecclesia Dei communities? Communities with the Divine Office in Latin?

I like the Tyburn nuns and the Solesmes convents. I wish there were a female version of the Fraternity of St Vincent Ferrer...English speaking....*sigh* Who know? Something might happen, right?

avismariastella:

If you have an attraction to Tyburn, you might like to look at these nuns:

Like Tyburn, they are a UK based cloistered Benedictine nuns. From what I gather, they perform the entire Office in Latin and have a strong commitment to liturgy. They are habited, and in communion with Rome. Something is prompting me to tell you about this order: http://www.stanbrookabbey.org.uk/ - another great order with a beautiful website.

As I'm not familiar with Ecclesius Dei or traditional communities, I can't help you there. You might be interested to know that I live a few hours away from Wagga Wagga where the Conventual Sisters are. Before I became engaged, it was one of the orders I was considering. If you are an Aussie, have you visited these nuns? Benedictine Nuns at Jamberoo?

Oh, someone who lives near the Dominicans! I'm a Kiwi, but most of my family has migrated to Australia (Sydney), so they seem the most obvious choice. I love Dominicans, but I also love the Traditional Latin Mass. I really have to get writing...

I like the St Cecelia's Abbey website. A pity they're on the other side of the world, but then I suppose the grace of God will pull me out of my homely attachments wherever I'm supposed to go.

Thanks for that.

 • 2 weeks later...
Totus Tuus

I spent four summers with the Daughters of St. Paul.

Visited the Contemplative Dominicans in Lufkin, TX (the sister order of the Dominican's of the Heart of Jesus in Louisiana).

I've written to Benedictines, Poor Clares, Dominicans... quite a few orders, almost all of whom are faithful and traditional.

I've visited the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration three or four times, will visit again next week, and in October, and hopefully enter in December.

...that's all I can think of.
I couldn't believe how many were so liberal when it came to Church matters, how many didn't wear the habit, etc. I can imagine ever wanting to join or being called to join a community that doesn't wear the habit.
Just because some orders don't wear the habit doesn't mean they are liberal!
We want desperately to wear the habit, but as a new community we are waiting for the next step(more members and bishops permission) so that we can wear the habit. We are soooo not liberal!
I was on the list for the Carmelites of the Divine Heart of Jesus in St. Louis (because my friend was in there for a while, so it was a good way to get updates and pictures).
Who did you know there? If you don't mind my asking

That's entirely different from what I'm talking about, though, Sister. I definately mean no disrespect to your community, because you're working towards being able to wear the habit. Unfortunately, the nuns that I talked to(in this particular instance) were totally against wearing the habit. They didn't like it, didn't see a need for it, and thought I was silly for wanting to wear it.
