All For Jesus
Thank you for your prayers, Zabbazooey ^_^
Well, meeting with the Council is very simple. There are five nuns on the council (including Mother Angelica, if I remember correctly, but it may be five nuns besides her). They ask you questions about yourself, how your health is, if you have debts... I really think the interview process is different for everyong, depending on their background and stuff. I have only met with the Council on a preliminary basis, since I'm not eighteen yet. My "official" meeting will be in October. I am told that it's about the same, and after they talk to you for a few minutes they ask you to wait in the hallway while they discuss and basically vote, as far as I know, on your entrance. Then you come back in a couple of minutes later, they give you the answer, and that's it. It's actually very simple. I am really under the impression that discernment with the PCPA's is more of a time of discernment on your partand that of the sisters, involving much prayer, as opposed to a long, drawn-out process on paper. I am not sure about an autobiography, but I'm almost sure it's not part of the process.

I hope I didn't make that too confusing. I'm not very good at explaining things.

Oh yeah, and cleaning wax off the floor can be very hard! I do it every time I visit (because, like you, I have always cleaned the temple during my visit as well).

Thanks Totus Tuus...you did a wonderful job explaining. There is something about their community that is absolutely beautiful. I have also been thinking of writing the PCPA's in Portsmouth, but haven't done it yet. I think their spirit is sooo beautiful!!! Thanks again for explaining...keep us updated!

All For Jesus

Thanks, Totus Tuus... I can get their mailing address off their website. I just wanted to see if they had one. I'm thinking about writing them. I love their spirit...I'm not sure if I'm called to the cloister, but I can always look and find out. :)

Absolutely. Also, you can be an extern. ^_^ I'm going to be one, at least for the first year or two.

Thank you, ForHimAlone! I am having a wonderful feast day. I hope Angela is, too, as well as MariaTherese and all those discerning with Poor Clares :) When is the feast of the founder of the Cistercians? I don't know much about them.. but I was very intrigued by their website. Their habits are so cute! At first they look like giant marshmallows! But I really do like their habits, they're beautiful.

Well, the Cistercians look to St. Benedict as their Father. A reform started in 1098 at the Monastery of Molesme led by St. Robert. He and a group of other monks wishing to follow a stricter observance of the Holy Rule of Saint Benedict left for Citeaux- the beginning of the Cistercian Order. St. Robert's feast day is April 29.

And I can vouch- the Cistercian habit may look beautiful in pictures, but it's even more beautiful up close and personal! ^_^ The Poor Clares' habit is so beautiful, too! I just love praying the rosary with the Poor Clare nuns on EWTN- they are so cute!

That's awesome. So the Cistercians are like a Benedictine reform Order- cool. The Benedictines are the oldest form of Monasticism, right? So they were founded in the ninth century, if I remember correctly. Wow! Y'all Cistercians outdo us Franciscans as far as your Order's age! That's impressive :)

Yeah, it's pretty neat. The Sisters made all these beautiful pamphlets to celebrated their 900th anniversary back in 1998. :)

The Franciscans are definitely amazing, though! I love the story of Saint Clare. What an incredible woman- such a beautiful and lively faith and trust in Jesus. I love the story of St. Clare and the monstrance protecting their monastery and the town of Assisi. What a blessing to be called to her order!!

Yes, St. Clare is amazing. I am starting to have a little friendship with her :) There is a fairly new novel about her called "St. Clare and Her Sisters / Lovers of the Poor Christ" published by the Daughters of St. Paul. You might like it ^_^

TotusTuus - I saw in another topic... assuming all goes well with your aspirancy, you'll be entering the PCPA's in December?? Did I read that right? ;) How exciting!
