dude, I am NOT pro- Obama.

I just thought the fact that they actualylsaid that it is a political tactic was good. ...

I don't think he is sincere or humble but, it IS a political tactic on McCain's side, too.
Oh, he's not sincere or humble at all. And he is actually going on talking points and suggestions from the liberal msm. Olbermann actually suggested that Obama sound angry once in a while and use the word "enough" because it will play well in the press. And that's just what he did today. And it's all being done in plain view.

From just the other day on MSNBC w/ that partisan hack, Kieth Olbermann:
To something from your own convention, maybe the most compelling moment of your acceptance speech in Denver was that one strongly voiced word, "enough." A lot of people who have felt angry about what has been done to this country in the last seven or eight years have that same sense of urgency and simplicity to it.

Have you thought of using on the campaign trail and in your speaking engagements, more exclamation points? Have you thought of getting angrier?
That suggestion drew an appreciative smile from Obama (and maybe a nod & a wink).

And tonight we see headlines about a stern and angered Obama in headlines like the one at ABC News: "Obama Says 'Enough'"!
Nice work Obama and press secretary Olbermann.

for Obama, Palin = lipstick and the republic platform = a pig... pretty simple to understand. it is indeed 'sexist' to say that Palin is nothing but lipstick, but the pig comment is perfectly acceptable. even the lipstick part that might be a bit 'sexist' is not so bad when you think about it... most people who are honest with themselves know that a large part of the reason McCain chose Palin was that a bunch of women had just been disappointed in the nearest prospect to a female president in a long time and he wanted to "put the lipstick" on his campaign to attract the females...

apparently people can't understand metaphors anymore. sheesh.

Which one is the paper and which one is the "old fish"? Ageism?

I have to steal a comment about someone on the Dennis Miller show.

Obama cries about his pig in lipstick comment being taken out of context. This is the same guy who went around day after day taking McCain's 100 year war comment out of context and McCain's 5 million dollar rich people comment out of context.

People, to use another Shakespearean reference, this is all Much Ado About Nothing. The US has *real* problems and has *real* issues to deal with.

Having said that, since all McCain has to offer is recycled Bush policies and the fact that he was a POW forty years ago, which somehow qualifies him to be president in the 21st century, the Republicans have resorted Karl Rove's playbook: if you can't blind 'em with science, baffle 'em with...

My two cents.

If Obama gets in office, we will go from real issues to very serious issues.

I believe the character of the candidate matters. If he intended to do this (remember? They love nuance.), it shows poor judgment. The second real issue at hand is how he responds. Does he handle it coolly, with humility, control, effectively, etc? I think he has not responded the way he ought to have.

I would rather recycled Bush policies over Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid tripe.

"if you can't blind 'em with science, baffle 'em with..." You're talking about the anointed one, Obama. Right? That has been the center piece of his campaign.

This is a manufactured issue, IMHO, designed to deflect attention from any real discussion about substantive policy differences. The fact is, most of what passes for a general election campaign in the US consists of these type of "gotcha" moments, and both parties and candidates of all stripes are guilty of it. I don't disagree that Obama needs to flesh out his positions -- so why don't McCain et al bring up real policy discussions instead of this nonsense on which we've now wasted 24 hours of our respective lives?

Because character and judgment matter--they matter even more than experience. And this is yet another example of Obama's poor character, another reflection of Obama's inexperience, and another demonstration of Obama's very bad judgment.

With respect, puh-lease. We're talking about the use of an idiom that was apt and perhaps intentionally intended as a slight of Palin. In the meantime, and as I noted above - although I noticed no one bothered to respond - Republicans can feel free to tear Obama a new one on a daily basis and no one here is too put out by it. Disagree with, dislike, despise Obama all you want, that's your privilege, but puh-lease let's stop with the crocodile tears.
