HolyHearts Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 The Apostolic Adminitration of Campos in Brazil has the only Redemptristine Monastery in the world that still uses their traditional habit & follows the Original Rule. Holy Mass & the Divine Office are according to the 1962 Rubrics of Ven. John XXIII. Although almost all their prayers are in Latin, the one drawback is that they understand & speak only Portuguese (Brazilian). Their address is: Monjas Redentoristas Mosteiro da Santa Face & do Purissimo e Doloroso Coracao de Maria Rua Armando Marques, s/n 28400-000 Sao Fidelis - RJ BRAZIL email: madresredentoristas@yahoo.com.br I will try to find their website

Yeah, I know, Campos is amazing. They really went through the mill to keep their faith. I am glad they have a reformed monastery of Redemtoristines. I grew up near a very "relaxed" one where God was frequently preached as God, our Mother. Illicit breviarys that contained inclusive language were used. So, this is good news.
HolyHearts Posted May 6, 2008 Author Posted May 6, 2008 Their dark red tunics are floor-lenght; they use a royal blue scapular; the wimple, collar & underveil are white and the over veil black. Their is an image of the Most Holy redeemer on the scapular. A royal blue cappa is used on special occasions. The externs use the same habit except that it is black & white. The Australian Redemptristine Nuns have an excellent website that explains the Redemptristine vocation. Australia, however, follows the up-dated Rule & has slightly modified their headpiece.
TotusTuusMaria Posted May 6, 2008 Posted May 6, 2008 This is really good to know. Thanks for posting. Do they have a website?

Studiumecclesiae Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Here is a website about the redemptoristine nuns in Australia. Probably easier for English speakers. http://cloisters.tripod.com/au_ossr_bolwarra/ They are quite traditional too.
reminiscere Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) Traditional in some practices yes, but with the new customs (or lack of), a modified habit and and the totally revised constitutions... tnavarro61 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 (edited) I think this has to be clarified: Monastery of the Most Holy Redeemer is in now way connected to the Cloister Outreach nor is it one of their foundations. Edited February 18, 2011 by tnavarro61
krissylou Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 What colorful habits!!! And I thought the Holy Spirit Adoration sisters (pink nuns) were colorful!
