Dummies Guide To Entering The Convent

In another thread someone is asking about recommended reading for family on the subject and it was  suggested a guide ought to be written.

 

So, here we are VS'ers, a project for 2014.

 

Chapter headings?

 

Table of Contents?

 

Sample chapters?

Also, have a section on discernment. I love this idea so much!!! Someone do it, please!!!

I would love to do it...but there are a few problems the 1st being TIME!

Dummies doesn't take unsolicited manuscripts but you can do custom books with them. That takes MONEY!

 

It IS worth thinking about!

I know! This is one of the best ideas ever. We've got to go along with this. :winner:

And even if we don't get it published, we still have a really fantastic guide.

No, that would be in the Prequel..."Dummies Guide to Discerning a Community." I anticipate a trilogy: "Dummies Guide to...Discerning, Entering, and Living There." Maybe a fourth, "Discerning Out."

Oh, HELP!!!!!!

 

Okay, since I am very ancient now and since I didn't really discern in the way it is done today, I can't write that one.

 

 

I can write one on entering though and am now seriously giving it thought.

 

 

Oh - yes, and I might get round one day to the one on discerning out, as I did that too....

 

We could have a joint one on Living There........

I submit that Mater be nominated to head the chapter on where to secure the items needed for a possible "iist" of items that will be need upon entering a community. (Of course it can vary with different communities) ;)

I have a friend who would love this idea. I'll have to ask her if she has any suggestions. :D

the sisters of st. francis of perpetual adoration have a really nice handbook they give to families that gives info/answers common questions etc. if i remember correctly - a lot of it was particular to their community but a lot of it was general information or information that could be made more general for a project like this. i know they have worked in conjunction with Imagine Sisters so maybe they could be a resource if y'all really do this.
