phatcatholic Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 with the melding of the converts board w/ the apologetics board into the new transmundane board, the top got a little cluttered with pinned topics. but, i don't want to lose these threads from the converts board b/c they are really important. so, below is a link to each one. make sure you check them out regularly, especially if you are a recent convert to Catholicism. Birgitta Noel Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Why did Converts Anonymous go away? Methinks that was a bad idea....
ReinnieR Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006
Why did Converts Anonymous go away? Methinks that was a bad idea....
it didn't go away completely. it just merged with the Apologetics board.
Birgitta Noel Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006
it didn't go away completely. it just merged with the Apologetics board.
Yes, I realize that, but it was really nice for Converts or those considering converting to have a place of their own so to speak. At least a place to poke their heads in and start. But that's just my $0.02.

But I know that early on I'd worry about posting something that someone would jump all over. In a converts board people tend to recognize that people may not be that well versed etc. I guess my point is that the pham can be a bit intimidating and sometimes less than charitable and so the converts board just seemed like a kinder gentler place for folks to pop in and look around. Anyhow, I'll quit whining now. Thanks Phatty for all you do.
phatcatholic Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 i think the Apo board (not the TML) has always been a welcoming place for people who have questions. this is the board to go to if you want to understand your faith better. hopefully converts will feel just as comfortable asking questions here as they did when they had their own board. pretty much everyone who posts in here regularly is here to help. pax christi, phatcatholic

Honour Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 (edited) I think this is important... http://www.phatmass.com/phorum/index.php?s...rt+reading+list Edited August 8, 2007 by Honour
White Knight Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 There are some apologetics classes that I plan on taking this fall including RCIA again to keep my self informed, I hear many people doing this and proves to be a great blessing in wisdom and faith, since it maintians your faith.

CorMaria Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 I've noticed that there are quite a few converts who end up without support and consequently stop practising their faith.
perfectunion33 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 I agree, we need to be more supportive of our fellow Christian brothers. Let us not forget that if someone is baptized legitimately, they become part of the Mystical Body of Christ whether they accept Catholic Doctrine or not. If you see one of your brothers falling would you not help them pick up their cross and lead them to the narrow path that leads to Life.
KeenanParkerII Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Cool, I'm in the process of crossing the Tiber right now. (Half through through RCIA i think?) I'll go through these links when I get some time this evening.

Noel Yheaulon Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I don't want to be an anonymous convert. You are all correct, however, in that it is extremely difficult to practice without a very strong catholic community to lean on. Especially, if your friends and family are not christian in any respect or anti-religious. With that being said it would be best if converts had a way of identifying themselves or had some community on here that they could cling to in trying times. There is nothing more lonely and discouraging than being your only close Catholic friend, craving friendship and pep, and not being able to find it.
