When St. Philippine Duchesne, RSCJ wanted to enter the Visitation monastery of Ste. Marie d'en Haut, her father forbade her to do so (some say it was because he could see the anticlerical French Revolution on the immediate horizon, and some say it was because he himself was opposed to Catholicism). The convent would not receive her without family permission. So she asked her aunt (who lived right next door and to whom she was very close) to accompany to the convent and give [i][/i]her[i][/i] permission. The convent accepted Philippine.

Your situation reminds me of hers. If worse comes to worst, ask your aunt to sign the paperwork and then explain it to your father.

You know the old expression, It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Well, I don't think that I will need my father's permission - not only does this monastery not require that, but in a pinch I don't believe he would try to stop me. Thank God, too: I'm not sure I have it in me to go against my father's express wish.
