Congratulation on getting rid of those pesky spammers. It sure is nice not to be subjected to the onslaught of stupidity and senseless derogation, for no apparent reason? Keep up the good () work, Moderation staff!

Second Edition of The Liturgy of the Hours
Discipulus Romae replied to CountrySteve937's topic in Catholic Open Mic
Well, in my mind, the translation etc. should be the same as far as praying practicality is concerned. I'm more inclined to trust Bishop Barron's press to make a tasteful interior - timeless art, woodcuts, etc. That being said (unless there is some sort of horrendous blunder with layout or strange modern art) binding matters most to me - Ascension press' promised premium full-grain leather edition is definitely what I'm leaning towards, despite their potential price. I'm going to wait until I can compare the editions in person to get a good feel for the paper quality, printing, binding, art, layout, etc. Until then, it's IBreviary. On a personal note, I would (figuratively) kill for a Baronius or PCP printing. I own liturgical books from both and they are exceptional and well-priced. - Today

From the National Catholic Register - 428 men to be ordained priests this year in the U.S. About 80% will be ordained for dioceses, and about 20% will be ordained for religious orders. The full article has many more details about demographics, family, education, and prayer practices before becoming seminarians. https://www.ncregister.com/cna/hundreds-of-men-to-be-ordained-in-u-s-in-2026-d01q0tu9

This is from the Trappist web site for the whole order worldwide. Crozet is a monastery of Trappist nuns in Virginia. "May 11, 2026 On April 25, 2026, Feast of St. Mark, Sister Eve Marie Aragona made solemn profession at the monastery of Crozet (USA). Sister Eve Marie was born in New York in 1979; she entered Crozet, USA in 2018 and made first profession in 2021."

The second edition of the LOTH is going to be released soon. (Ash Wednesday is the first day it can be officially used!). Preorders start in July. Which publisher do you plan on buying your new set from? Ascension Press or Word on Fire? Personally, I'm going to go with the Word on Fire edition, but I'm not going to make my final decision until I see more mock ups from both publishers.

Much appreciated! I had no clue I had THAT many accounts 😅 Password apps have been such a lifesaver for my ADHD brain. I wish they would've been more commonplace when I was growing up...

Yeah, I'm not watching 8 minutes of AI reading a script. Can you summarize?
-
You had like four accounts. I merged them all.
-
Maybe. Let me think about it :) I really wish I could recover my old account, the one I used in high school. Is there a way for Dust to reset the email on that account? I'd love to have it back for the sake of nostalgia. I looked through some old posts and it's still showing up on the forum. I just no longer have the password or my high school email. My username was CountrySteve21

Sin doesn't exist in heaven, so there is no reason for forgiveness to exist in heaven. Those things are earthly and human. It is natural and logical that God desires that they are dealt with in an earthly human way. James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. John 20:23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven. Matthew 18:18 Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. -

This is taken from the FB page of Subiaco Abbey (Benedictine monks) in Arkansas. Three transitional deacons of the Redemptorist Vice Province of Extra Patriam, based in Houston made their pre-ordination retreat there recently. The Redemptorists are thriving in Viet Nam; this vice province is made up of Vietnamese Redemptorists outside of Viet Nam proper. ######################################################################## Vincent Gerard Thanh Van Vu, Paul Vinh Xuan Nguyen, ... and Vincent Martin Tinh Tri Nguyen. These three Redemptorist deacons will be ordained priests on Saturday, May 16th, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Houston, Texas. The Most Reverend Joe Vasquez, the Archbishop of Galveston-Houston, will be the ordaining bishop.

From Saint Anselm Abbey (Benedictine monks) in New Hampshire. A novice made temporary vows in April. By the way, the abbot at Saint Anselm's (pictured holding a crosier) is a brother-monk, not a priest-monk. It became permissible only recently, and I think he's the only brother-monk-abbot in the U.S. #################################################################### https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1414488354048785&set=a.553972163433746

At St. Procopius Abbey (Benedictine monks) in Lisle, IL, novice Aaron Minix is scheduled to profess simple vows in June. Click on the hyperlink below to read the announcement, and then within that text is another hyperlink which leads to a series of four videos in which Bro. Aaron talks about his background and discernment process. I think anyone in discernment would benefit from watching the videos - they're pretty short - none longer than 10 minutes. ########################################################################## https://www.procopius.org/post/novice-brother-aaron-minix
