Writing an autobiography when joining a religious order
by Lady Grey, Hot- 11 replies

I've heard that some religious communities will ask inquirers to write an autobiography as part of the application process. Exactly what sorts of things might one include in that? Would one have to disclose, for example, specific sins one had struggled with?

People Entering For The Wrong Reasons...
by Sarah147- 11 replies
- 1.6k views
Hello, I remember talking a little about this with someone a while back. It came up that some people enter for the wrong reasons. Now, how common do y'all think this is? How could they possibly live the life if not called? Wouldn't the order discerning with them pick up on the fact that they aren't called? God bless you.

Am I the only one who thinks that the struggles, questions, situations, problems, etc. of potential converts (or of people telling their conversion experience) sound remarkably similar to those of people discerning a vocation? What do you all think about this?

Writing A Letter For Asking Being An Aspirant..
by Rocamadour- 11 replies
As you maybe know, I've had a living-in for a week by the Benedictines in the Benelux, in their monastaria and it was very beautyfull! It was great to be there! I've talked with a couple sisters there, who you never speak when you're in the church during the Holy Mass or by their offices. A month later, the novicemistress asked me for writing a letter to their abbess for a longer living-in (6 weeks!) and also asking for entrance. Now I'm very nervous and don't know to write... Eek! With love, Rocamadour

How Can I Know?
by LittleWaySoul- 11 replies

Okay, so recently I've felt very strongly called to religious life, but everyone around me is telling me to think about it more deeply and figure out what God truly wants. So my question is... how can I know whether this is what He's calling me to? Also... How do I know which order is right for me? And, What should I be doing in my life right now to help myself discern better? I appreciate all input! Thank you!

Our Call....
by Catholictothecore- 11 replies

K, it's been on my mind most of the day, so I'm sneaking online to post this idea I had during biology. We are all discerning vocations, but we all have them in varying ways. Some marriage, some lay apostolate, others consecrated life, others preisthood. But we all share the same call from God to pray for the world. All day this has been simmering in my mind, and a few other things as well. Really, since I read about Sr. Lucias' death yesterday. We are called as a Chuch.... to pray for the world that has made it clear it will do no such thing to honor and worship God for ourselves and the world that refuses to do so to do penance for the world because it refuse…

When you visit a cloistered community, you don't enter the cloister, right? So where do you sleep and how do you interact with the community to learn about their day and 'live the life'?
