I'm just telling you what I saw when I looked at the picture, I'm not going to debate about it. And it was mockery, plain and simple, and I'm not going to debate about that either.

there was no debate, there was one simple question. what is modest for a women to wear.

Yes, yes, but that one simple question will be a big can of worms that will no doubt have another question by you or someone else, and it will be a debate. Least it has happened every single time simple little questions like that are answered.

true, very true. although it was asked as a simple question by me just to help clarify why you would think the above pic is immodest. it was not intended as to start a debate. although by that same token your comment about the clothes being immodest could also start a debate, yet you posted that. it was just a simple answer, just like a simple question.

I know but I already stated why, I felt no need to answer it again, and again, and again, etc.

If I may interject, I asked for everyone's opinions, and I appreciate that KoC gave me his. It seems to me that his problem is not necessarily with the outfit itself, but with how it appeared at first in the picture (you can correct me if I'm wrong.) Personally I do think there is a difference... and that is something to keep in mind, I think.

I realize that modesty is largely subjective, which is why I wanted to know if anyone found anything wrong with the outfit, because I personally did not. I don't think he was rude at all. I think, weighing everything, I still considerate it to be a modest outfit, but I appreciate his input and perspective nonetheless.

So thank you, everyone for your opinions.

This conclusion was reached in a different thread.

If that's immodest, then I've got some problems... I don't think that it's immodest, everything's covered, long sleeves, hi collar. Looks good on her. I don't know I like to wear skinny jeans a lot and I didn't really feel like they were immodest. They certainly do show off the legs. I'm always more worried about the chest area, I don't even think about the legs normally, unless it's a really short skirt or shorts.

Better yet she should be wearing a burka over some nice, baggy sweatpants. And I am sorry that I've seemed to offend you. I was only giving my opinion, and I gave my opinion as a man. A lot of the things women wear to 'show off their figure' can and does cause men to lust.

Let me tell you something, men will lust over a women even if she's dressed in old sweats. As a woman I do my part to dress and behave modestly, but I refuse to leave the house every day in a long skirt or baggy jeans with a shirt collar up to my neck and sleeves to my elbows. I present myself as a woman deserving respect and dignity. When men jeer at me and act obnoxiously, that is THEIR problem because I already do my part.

In much of Europe (particularly Italy) "modesty" is having an imposing husband/boyfriend standing next to you, no matter what you're wearing.

I really love the top and sweater... I think the entire outfit is cute, however I'm not sure if it is modest or not... I guess it depends on the jean. It is so easy for that jean when acted on to be very tight. I've seen it so much, however that one looks comfortable.

this may be of interest to you http://www.therebelution.com/modestysurvey/

Over 700 Christian (conservative, for the most part) men who actually have a concept of modesty and its importance for both women and men said that jeans are not generally immodest.

The same number said skin-tight jeans are a stumbling block. We ladies just have to be aware of the jeans we are wearing... I think it just depends on the jeans the lady is going to use with that look. It is so easy to wear the wrong jeans... too tight... low riders... its easy... especially with that look.

This is interesting.

I don't like the skin-tight jeans. A long shirt or sweater helps, but like someone else said, sometimes you might as well be wearing tights if your jeans are really close-fitting... Some people (including adult women in my neighborhood!) have an idea that leggings+ a top that is long enough to cover a little past your rear end = clothes. I think this =trauma land.
