pat22
sorry this is a little old. personally, i don't think i would "fix" my pets. but cats are one thing, human biengs are totally different. July 9 2009 Vatican City – One of the running tenets of Catholicism has been the exclusion of contraception of any kind. Since the beginning of the denomination, Catholic bodies have enforced the credo that sex acts must be for procreation, a practice that embodies the best of Christian tradition and has ensured the survival of the faith. Despite controversy Catholic officials and the Pope in particular have stuck with that philosophy even as rates of teen pregnancy and diseases such as HIV and AIDS have ravaged nations of all religious denominations. Now the Church is focussing on a new target. For decades the movement to spay and neuter pets has been growing in influence. With such high profile supporters as Bob Barker the movement to reduce the number of stray pets and accidental pregnancies has been seen as both a humanitarian exercise and a public health success. Now though the Catholic Church and the Pope himself have come out against the practice and declared spaying and neutering of all pets a violation of Christian law. The Pontiff has called on all Christians to discontinue to practice immediately and to allow all animals to freely procreate. “The practice of altering an animal’s body in order to prevent it from procreating is no longer an acceptable practice in the eyes of the Church. Too long have we sat back and allowed this type of practice to take place without any regard to the damage it has caused to the Christian faith. We urge all people of faith to immediately discontinue this process and allow all animals to freely procreate,” said the Vatican in a statement. “The miracle of birth is not something designed exclusively for human beings. Dogs, cats, and other animals are also God’s creations and must be treated as such. It is His will for these animals to procreate and it is not man’s place to interfere with that plan.” Spaying and neutering has come into widespread use throughout the world, particularly in the west, as a way to limit the spread of stray and unwanted pets which can become pests and spread disease. It’s not immediately clear what kind of impact the Pope’s plea will have on agencies who have conducted such practices successfully for so many years. “I don’t think that there are many people who ever believed that they were committing a sin by neutering their animal but now that no longer seems to be the case. The Bible is not explicit in regards to altering the procreative abilities of lesser animals but that of course is the case with many other things the Catholic Church has outlawed. One can certainly see the extension of the logic is respect to this particular decree and I imagine it will now become a major topic of debate,” said Scrape TV Religion analyst Bertram Gas. “Issues such as public health and the potential suffering of the animals of course are a secondary concern. God is obviously and righteously offended by preventing pregnancy amongst humans so it makes perfect sense that he would feel the same way about other animals. They are all God’s creatures in the end, great and small.” The Church did not declare how it came to the conclusion that God wanted an end to spaying and neutering and it is not expected that they will anytime soon. “Of course by stopping this practice cities and towns are going to be put in a very difficult spot. In urban areas wild animals, especially domestic, can become a serious problem. After all you can kill rats without people putting up a fuss but killing cats and dogs is a different prospect entirely,” continued Gas. “Of course there aren’t a whole lot of pets in Vatican City so at least they will be free of pests but that just isn’t the case everywhere. Many cities already have a major problem with pests and this is likely to only make that situation worse. But at least God will be happy.” We attempted to contact God for his view on the situation but received no response. Bobe Barker also could not be reached. mommas_boy
Ya. I actually thought that this was serious at first (the pope would not have authority to make such a claim, as it really isn't part of faith and morals), and then I did some research on "ScrapeTV", your news source. Farce!
