He knows he can get away with it, which could be a reason why he conveniently forgets. Therefore, you have to either bring it up as a problem or stop cleaning (or do the bare minimum, like the dishes).

MIKolbe
Why the heck are you laughing.
cause what you said was funny. I find your outlook on marriage humorous, at times; which may be guided by ignorance more than anything else. The whole comment on intimidation just hit a funny bone, as if a female cannot feel intrepidation without feeling intimiated. Don't get me wrong, my wife and I have our share of issues, actually this thread is one of them. (cause it really IS hard to clean with a 15 month old..jus sayin) There are other issues where I need to communicate something to my wife. I am not intimiated by her, but I love her so much, I want to choose the right words/body language/communication method to tell her my feelings so as not to hurt her. Not because she is some waif (cause she could so take you ), but because I do not want to be the cause of any pain for her, or our relationship. I have a hunch (tho I could be wrong) that this may be were Red is coming from. The 'don't let the man keep you down' tone seems like a rather reflexive/invertibrate reponse; and thus humorous. I'm not saying that her husband is intimidating her. In fact, he probably has no idea that she's stressing out about this.
Funny. I didn't notice that kind of tone at all. All she did was advise her not to feel intimidated. That doesn't mean she thinks Red is intimidated to begin with. In fact, HCF probably doesn't know either way.
