Varg
To whoever asked about my background, I think it was Ash Wednesday but I can't remember: Neither Swedish nor Norwegian but it's quite likely that I'm at least part dscended from Vikings. goldenchild17
The blasphemy posted on here is a childish and pathetic screaming for attention, which I generally ignore, however I think this thread raises some very valid points. There is indeed a HUGE double-standard on Phatmass, and not one in favor of Christians/Catholics, and this is kind of the elephant in the room which people choose to ignore. It seems now that on the "phorums," it's got to where the enemies of Christian religion are free to insult and blaspheme to their little hearts' content, while orthodox Catholics must walk on eggshells when they post, lest they be penalized for posting something which might possibly offend the ever-so-delicate sensibilities of Muhammedans, militant homosexuals, Satanists, Onanists, Michael Jackson worshippers, and other fragile souls. Yeah, I've heard the whole line about "Catholics being held to a higher standard," but this is ridiculous. I think the Phatmass administration ought to take a hard, serious look at what the purpose of this site is, and whether they are indeed facilitating "Preaching Holy Apostolic Truth." When one has to slog through lots of moronic anti-Catholic blasphemy and the resultant bickering, it is probably off-putting for a lot of those coming on here to have actual discussion of issues concerning Catholic religion. (Note: I'm not referring to, say, atheists posting serious intellectual objections to the existence of God, but to posts which have no purpose other than to insult Christ or the Church. Catholics are not allowed to do the same to other religions, so why the double-standard?) Far too often, it seems the Phatmass administrators serve the sacred cows of political correctness more than Christ.
a thousand times yes.
Anyway, as for the double standards, if Christ allowed Himself to be mocked, beaten, scourged, paraded to the outskirts of town and nailed to a cross, should we not have the strength to endure insults hurtled at us because of Him? Keep in mind that's not the same thing as accepting or approving it. But as I see it, those who claim to be satanist or some silly stuff like that are really just throwing insults at us, not at God.God is offended at all of us, but he still Loves us.
I don't entirely agree. I think if there are any posts that are directed at any one of us in particular, or in group, then yes we should just bear it, offer it up. This is what the saints would do, but I don't think any of the saints would stand for anyone mocking the Lord or His Church in any way, and neither should a Catholic website. Open dialogue can occur just fine without allowing this.

And that last line is just asinine imo. I'm not just trying to be contrary either, I'm quite serious. Do you (and those who +1'd this) really believe that this is an accurate description of PM!?? XIX
I generally can't stand persecution complexes. However, I do think that to be consistent with other just rules on this phorum, there should be no tolerance of blasphemy against Christ and/or His Church. We don't and shouldn't tolerate porn. We don't allow swearing, and probably shouldn't. I'm sure the mods are working it out behind the scenes. This isn't the kind of issue where I would expect one person to simply put the hammer down without consulting others.

If you see blasphemy click the Report button and I guarantee you that a mod will take care of it. As a former mod I can testify to the fact that mods do not tolerate blatant blasphemy any more than they tolerate porn. Geez, some of the mods here will edit/warn for things like "wt*" "b*" and "om*" for crying out loud. I can also testify to the fact that only the extremely nit picky and asinine reports get ignored.
