Nothing wrong with debating. But for a debate to progress and actually see improvement some guidelines need to be followed, by ALL sides. There shouldn't be any reason to handicap the Catholics just because they have the truth. Tiger Woods isn't forced to swing with one arm, nor is Michael Jordan made to run on one leg, just because they are the best. We experience one-sidedness enough in the world. Why here too?

For sure, everyone needs to follow the rules.

I think that the real problem here isn't difference in treatment; it's being unclear about what the rules actually are, what must be enforced, and what we can let slide. At least that's my opinion.

i think it's pretty simple. if someone continues to blaspheme, and doesn't show any sign of respect towards God and our Faith on a continuous basis, they should be banned for life...

this thread has many good comments and points, but I still think the administrator and moderators should have a more critical eye towards blasphemy...using common sense, of course...
I think i should define what I think is blasphemy, just so my thoughts are understood better...I find it blasphemous when people like to use God's name in vain...in case many don't know it, that also means using His Holy name without reverence...as in "omg" or using His Name as an expression...even some screen names have His Holy Name...and you wonder what the intent was...they could've meant well...but then there are those who don't mean well...their time on phatmass is usually used to belittle God, belittle Catholics, and use their profile, signature, etc. to insult God. I find that very offensive. Forgive me for being sensitive where God is concerned. I dont' think any devout Catholic should have to limit themselves to certain areas of phatmass that would be considered sheltered from blasphemy. I'm speaking on common sense. Not being overly sensitive (although we all should when it comes to our Faith and the Almighty God's honor.)

Well, since I don't believe in your god, I certainly don't show respect to him, so that would qualify me.

:bye: ?

(And I'm amazed no one has yet said of Satan, Shaitan, Iblis, etc. that in Islamic and Jewish theology he's not pure evil, but a servant of God sent to tempt humanity. Not defending him, just saying I'm amazed no one has said that.)

If this place ever wants to become a peaceful and fruitful Catholic community with substance without a bunch of useless threads laden with nonsense, senseless debates, confusion, (not referring to the lame board ;) ), etc. then only Catholics who accept all that Christ teaches through his Church and practice the Faith (or truly aspiring ones) should be admitted.

I guess that goes against the grain of the mission of the site but in a sense what I am saying is true. It would make this site a lot better.

that wasnt meant sarcastically. The lame board is fine for what it is namely the very heart and center of lamity on earth.

I was referring to open mic and debate table.
