is this supposed to be an insult? because if it is, you can't be so subtle. you basically have to hit me over the head with an insult.

Only to myself. I was not trying to insult you. I am simply admitting that I am not as merciful as some of the posters on here and I recognize this as a flaw on my part. Zeal and righteousness can be dangerous things.

may i just ask what the point of posting these pictures is? seriously? is it to make people sick? is it to rile people up? is it to say "oh how awful the Latin Churches are!"? is it to make people unhappy? is it to make people want to leave the church? :idontknow:

look, people are aware that there are crappy things that happen. Cardinal Ratzinger relayed this story:

we know that there are people even WITHIN the Church who are passively and actively trying to destroy the Church. but Jesus said, "the gates of Hell shall not prevail". so take courage and have hope! things are getting better!!

I can understand the concern definitely and we need to be careful in our criticism of valid diocese of the Church. But also (and this may still be residue from my sede past) I think we need to be aware of the crazy stuff that's going on. Someone posted here asking why we are a Mahoney watch, and I think it is important to note just how bad it is, in order to understand the gravity of the problem. Yes we all know things are bad, but just saying so rarely gets a "vomit" reaction from people. Yet whenever the problems are visualized in photographs somehow it becomes so much clearer. As the saying goes, a picture does often equal a thousand words, and based on reactions to photos people often post, that is usually the case. Like with abortion protests, it is usually the graphic pictures that elicit the most emotion (from both sides) rather than the arguments. Yes we all need to know the intellectual reasons for what things are wrong and why, but I don't think its a bad thing to foster a little bit of passion regarding the issue, and illustrations often help achieve this.

That said, again I understand the opposite opinion, and do believe it would always be prudent to include an opposite and good picture in addition to any bad ones.
