Is Tim Tebow Anti-Catholic?

While I think it's good a pro-life ad will air during the Superbowl I wonder what his attitude is towards the Catholic faith? Seems like the Tebows are not exactly tolerant. The Tebows evangelical website is focused almost exclusively on the Philippines where his dad says "The Philippines, a country comprised of over 7,100 islands, has historically been an area of abuse and conquest. Of the 86 million Filipinos, we estimate that over 65 million have never once heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Currently, there are 41,949 barangays (villages), and 26,675 (64%) of them have no evangelical church of any kind.In recent years, there has been a tremendous movement of the Holy Spirit in the Philippines, resulting in an unusual spiritual responsiveness, and many Filipinos would believe in Jesus if they were just given the opportunity."

It is of course a predominantly Catholic country as you may know.

Ash Wednesday

Hmmm, I guess we don't know for sure what Tebow himself may think but as far as his parents and their mission is concerned their views of the Church could certainly be questionable.

If he is it would be such a major disappointment. :ohno:

You have no idea.

I hate to say it, but if it turns out he is, I wouldn't be surprised.

Ephrem Augustine

I could almost count on it...
unless he was so passionately pro-life, and saw all Catholics are doing to strengthen the movement.

Remember that for Protestants, especially evangelicals, it is all about numbers, not money, but its a game of "winning" souls.

...this is probably why he lost the Heisman and the conference championship game against Alabama...

...he didn't ask the Blessed Mother to intercede for him! :P

That's it! He doesn't have the "Hail Mary" in his playbook!

One of the best priests I've ever met is a Filipino man. Very humble, smart guy, and I get the impression that his family was extremely devout.

I had a filipino priest when I lived in Calgary back in the 90s. That wouldnt happen to have been Fr. Tim would it?

anyway, we have a couple filipino monks here, one of whom is a priest.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is.

I was involved with a number of different "Christian" groups when I was in college, and they liked to quote John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

But when I told them that I was Catholic they would get defensive and say, "The Catholics aren't saved because they haven't received Jesus as their personal lord and savior." :annoyed:

Incidentally my grandmother -- who was of Spanish decent -- grew up in a Catholic orphanage in the Phillipines. Her father, my great grandfather, got killed in the Filipino Insurrection. And honestly he was a classic rich Spaniard and not necessarily a perfect guy.

We have a *ton* of Filipino priests, actually. For whatever reason there's a very large Filipino community. So no, I've never met a Fr. Tim. His name is Inocencio (Inno).

Here in Arizona we have, I think, the largest immigration of Phillipinos in the states. And each of our parishes have at least a small community of Phillipinos. They are some of the most faithful Catholics there are.
