Skinzo
I sent a query to the Tebows and asked them why they focus purely on the Philippines for "evangelization" and this is the answer I received: "You are correct that the primary focus of BTEA is mission work in the Philippines. Although Filipinos are very religious people, they do not understand how to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Jesus says in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by Me." Many Filipinos believe that they can do enough good things to earn their way to heaven and have a personal relationship with Jesus. The Bible is clear that no one is good enough to earn their salvation because we have all sinned. God sent His only Son as the sacrifice to pay our sin penalty. Because of Jesus, we are able to go to heaven one day. If you would like for me to discuss this further, I would be happy to do so. Thank you for your time. Have a blessed day! Tiffany Tiffany Gray Assistant to Bob Tebow Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association (904) 389-2099 www.btea.org Yeah right. Having visited there several times I have noticed the strong relationship Filipinos have with Jesus. Lots of parishes there have six or more Masses on Sunday and at least three on weekdays. Their adoration chapels are often full, and the Angelus is recited in almost every public place every day. It's really amazing to be in a shopping mall in the Philippines and see everything come to a halt as the Angelus is recited over the public address system. Many fall to their knees. S. jeffpugh
They're working too hard for their salvation. They need "feel-good" time. Also, there's that Mary stuff that they've got to get rid of Let's pray for an end to the iconoclastic protestants. Pray for truth, and pray that Jesus will enlighten their hearts. goldenchild17
I wonder how much of the dad's stuff is intended to get financial support for the overwhelming task of bringing the Gospel to those who have never heard it, and how much is based on truly not believing Catholics are saved. I've written a few fundraising letters, and if you want the money, you have to make people think your situation is desperate.
If this were the case in their situation I think I would have even less respect for them than if they had a real conviction that Catholicism was not salvific.
