It is a good argument in your favor if you are perfect, but there are other considerations. For example, Tom Brady led the Patriots to a lead at the end of his fourth Super Bowl. Had the Giants not completed a miracle catch on third down in their final possession, Tom Brady would won his fourth Super Bowl and would have led a game-winning drive to do so. Had there been more time on the clock at the end of that Super Bowl, I have no doubt that Brady would have won the game. But there was less than a minute left after the Giants scored. So it is inaccurate to say that Brady has not played his best on the biggest stage. He did just did that in the Super Bowl that he lost. It's not Brady's fault that the Patriots defense allowed the Giants to score after Brady gave the Patriots the lead. Peyton Manning, on the other hand, threw an interception at the end of his Super Bowl loss which put the game out of reach for the Colts. That is why there is a major difference between Manning's Super Bowl loss and Brady's Super Bowl loss.
but its tom brady's fault that the offense, the number one socring offense of the season only managed 14 points. unless you have a great defense, its hard for any team to hold the opposing team under 14 points. there entire game plan that season was to score point with brady, moss and welker and the most tom can muster is 14 points. now had the patriots scored 21 points and still lost that's a different story but 14 points is next to no points when they were the highest scoring offense in history, no just the season. if brady had scored 21 points, then the pats win. the defense of the pats did their part. they held the giants to less than 3 td's. they had the best offense of the year. the offense did not deliver, the defense did their jobs. They can still make it interesting and something people of all ages can watch. I have nothing against established geriatric rockers but after a few years it's getting old. Bring some new blood back. It doesn't have to be Timberlake and I know the boob thing was upsetting for people but come on. I was also disappointed in the commercials, except the fiddling beaver and screaming chickens. It doesn't matter how great the quarterback is...if he doesn't have time to throw, then he's not going to have a very good game. But at the end of the game, on the biggest stage, Brady scored when he had to score. That is why he is so great. That is why he is just as good, if not greater, than Joe Montana. There was also speculation that Brady was injured heading into that Super Bowl. That is not an excuse for the loss, but it is a factor in evaluating the loss in terms of Brady's greatness as a quarterback.
as good or better than peyton manning, agreed. as good or better than joe montana, disagree. yes the giants defense was great. it was astounding that night but we are talking about the #1 offense in history. not of that year, not of that decade, of history. no other offense put up better numbers than the pats did in that year. yet when the big game came, they only managed 14 points. on the biggest stage, brady could only muster 2 td's. that was not going to be enough to beat the giants. the pats knew that. they knew they had to score more points than 2 td's. if you have the number #1 offense in history, you can not blame a defense who only allows 17 points. brady was great on that last drive and he is one of the most clutch, comeback qbs in history, but with the greatest offense in history, the game should not have been that close. had the score been 24-21 then you have a point. if brady had scored 3 tds and still lost, well then the offense did their job and it was the defense who fell through. but when the greatest offense in history can only score 14 points, then its the offenses fault. the loss even goes more against brady than say if he had lost the rams sb game because he had the greatest offense in nfl history and lost the game. the greatest offense in history should not lose a game because they could only score 14 points. We could go back and forth, but I have no problem with people arguing that Montana is better than Brady. I don't even have a problem with people arguing that Manning is better than Brady, even though I disagree. But what I do not like is when people act like Brady is not in the same conversation as Manning. As far as I am concerned, they are both in the same conversation for greatest quarterback of all-time...along with Montana, Elway, Marino, Unitas, etc.
