Prayers For A New Mission!

Last night, I trekked to the Byzantine Catholic Cathedral (two hours away from me) for Divine Liturgy.

Long story, but the Latin Rite churches up here are abysmally liberal and almost irreverent/casual during Mass.

Anyway... I've met several Catholics who have left the Church and converted to what is, if one stays up here, the only 'reverent' option, which is the Greek Orthodox Church across the street from the Catholic Church. I've heard more than once of the similarities between the two faiths and that the 'different' theological points are not issues with them and that in order for them to be the faith filled Christians worshipping in a church with reverence and filled with the Sacred they needed to convert. Their quote of choice is 'in order to become Catholic we had to become Orthodox'.

To be honest, I've gone to the Orthodox Church several times. I was transported by their sacred Divine Liturgy, their complete and loving charity for others (I've never been to a church where they greet newcomers so warmly, actually that's NEVER happened to me in a Catholic Church.).

So, during my time at the Cathedral I happened to mention where I was from and the deacon said they've been trying to get a mission started up here because there are about 1/2 dozen who drive from here down to the Cathedral (the other Byz. Cath Church in the area is about 45 min away from the Cathedral on the other side of town).

SOOO, please pray that this mission can be accomplished. My fervent desire, as I LOVE my Church, is to be an evangelist for those thinking of leaving the Catholic Church, and steer them to our Eastern Lung (as JP II calls them)... including myself.
