MissyP89
Hey, at least you've met your bishop! Mine was too busy to come down for my Confirmation, and hasn't been back since. That was eight years ago. Your Grace is another title for a bishop, right? I like that one.
zunshynn
I am meeting my bishop on Tuesday and I was wondering whether to kiss his ring. I am going to see how he interacts with others before I act. Some hate to stand on ceremony, so to speak, but I think our Catholic traditions are beautiful and his office is so vital. I will call him Excellency, though, whether he likes it or not. He is coming to do our parish confirmations on Tuesday, since last year's were left to Father to do at the Vigil. Our bishop has a lot of ground to cover during the Lenten/Easter season.
Bishop Baker is really good about it, I don't think you have to worry! On the one hand I don't think he would think anything of someone who didn't do it, especially because he's always been in the south, where many people wouldn't be aware of the traditional way to greet a bishop, but on the other hand, he's humbled by it because he knows that when people do, it's to honor Christ in his office. I recall him saying something about that when someone asked him about it. Edited March 15, 2010 by zunshynn
I really admire and respect Bishop Baker...he is a tremendous asset to our diocese and I am blessed to have him as the Shepherd of the flock here. He wrote an amazing pro-life prayer that the priests of our diocese read at each Mass' intercessions during Lent through Eastertide last year. I have my prayer card with it laminated and in my stash.
So that's what Abp. Fulton Sheen meant when he said, "Hearing nuns' confessions is like being stoned to death with popcorn!"

Luigi
Hey I like Jethro! He may have been a little unschooled (he was going to become either a brain surgeon or a fry cook - he couldn't decide)), but he was always well-intentioned, forthright, and happy. AccountDeleted
I kiss the Bishop's ring, and kiss my priest's hands. I call the Archbishop 'Your Grace' and the Bishop 'My Lord' or 'Your Lordship' or 'Bishop' depending on what country I am in. I call my priest 'Father' and use his last name not his first name. Just call me a traditionalist....
