OraProMe
Just a few corrections in this thread: The SSPX believe that the new Mass in heterodox but they do accept its validity. Many SSPX priests openly denounce sedevacantism however some are closet sedevacantists. The majority of sedevacantists wont attend SSPX chapels because the Mass is offered "una cum" Benedict XVI, however some sedevacantists do attend SSPX. Priests from the Australian SSPX seminary (which isn't going very well) used to travel to my old town to offer Mass and I've had quite a few conversations with the then seminary rector so if you've got any more questions Keenan I'm happy to answer them as best I can Edited March 15, 2010 by OraProMe

KeenanParkerII
he doctrine that the Holy Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son can be found in Catholic texts from centuries before there was any conflict over the issue. For example, the fifth century Athanasian Creed states that "Spiritus Sanctus a Patre et Filio: non factus, nec creatus, nec genitus, sed procedens."--"The Holy Spirit is from the Father and the Son: not made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding."
Yes Rexi. Yet it still raises the question as to why it become an issue long after it had become standard practice in many places in the West. I for one am not going to reply to that question and hope neither will you so that we don't derail the conversation. I've already learned more about some very important distinctions between the Sedes and SSPX.
KeenanParkerII
The Eucharist celebrated by SSPX priests is valid, as well. Also, the SSPX definitely does accept Pastor Aeternus, the most important document on papal primacy in the history of the Church.
Thanks Rex, but I was aware of that. I'm just interested in comparing the dynamics of these groups in relation to the Latin Right. Any information on that is of value!
