3 Extreme Ways To Go Green

Thy Geekdom Come

The first one is interesting, albeit not terribly attractive. The second is interesting but probably not terribly relevant to most people. The third is actually something St. Francis came up with, although his motive was humility, not a sort of ecopride about who can go the lowest.

Dumpster diving is disgusting.

The best thing for oil spills is human hair. There was a guy collecting stuff from barber's shops, and putting it in to old panty hose to make booms. Worked better than anything.

I hear they are going to set the oil slick in the Gulf on fire to keep it off the coast.

srsly. I've found some awesome stuff this way. Though I wouldn't consider touching food (unless perhaps an unopened/sealed/airtight bag of something prepackaged). Paint me the green liberal, but I like most of those ideas, and others.

I dumpster dive every week for Odwalla juice. They're sealed and perfectly good to drink. I get them outside the distribution center so they're weeks before their expiration date because it's illegal for them to put them out on shelves when they're getting close to their "Best by" date. I get close to $35 worth of juice each week (or whenever I run out) for free!

Nice. Yeah I haven't spent much time looking near distribution centers or big places like that. But it would certainly work out, as you say :)
