So you presume to actually know people's motives or intentions?

I think it might be more humble, though, if we could talk about America's excessive consumption and waste of food, when people on the other side of the world die of starvation.

I think if they cut up the tires, and make some kind of cement with it, that might be a little more reasonable.

Yeah, they are actually supposed to be the extreme green, and I don't know that I would ever want to go that far myself.

If you expect me not to take myself too seriously, please don't you take me too seriously.

Of course I can't read people's intentions, but I have definitely detected a note of acute pride in all this eco-friendly culture that's going on. That doesn't mean being eco-friendly is bad. Heck, at least some agreement with their principles is required by our faith. I'm just saying that as a movement, it could use some purification. I think in the 1960's the eco-friendly movement was more often laziness ("if it's yellow, let it mellow"), whereas now there can be a tendency toward a sort of pride ("I compost, recycle, use hemp shopping backs, wear biodegradable clothing, and drive a Prius!"). Not judging individuals, just noticing a trend.
