Whether or not the Oriental Orthodox are Christological heretics is a debatable point. The mia physis formula was used by St. Cyril in an orthodox fashion, and as long as they are using it in the sense he intended, they too would be theologically orthodox.

Whether or not the Non-Chalcedonian Orthodox Christians are heretical in their Christologial beliefs (and I strongly feel that their beliefs about Christ are heretical), they are still heretical inasmuch as they deny other divinely revealed dogmas (e.g. papal infallibility).

*I use this term to avoid confusion since the world Oriental has the exact same meaning as Eastern)

Having dinner with the two of you together would be quite a fun date. Come to think of it, you'd have more fun without me.
Good old St. Cyril. I bet it makes him feel happy that he hasn't been forgotten.

I jest love boys with lotsa book learn'in. (Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether or not they make great husbands--My ex with a PhD being a sterling example of "not a good husband.")

Sorry, just like Slappo, you guys make it too easy and set yourselves up for people like me when I'm in a silly mood.

I don't see an option for people who will only go to heaven if their pets can go, too.
If that had been an option, I might have checked that one. At least I would have understood what it meant and not have people calling me a Protestant when I don't want to be called a Protestant.

On the other hand, if I chose that option, Slappo might give me his talk about how "There will be pets, just not necessarly your pets." Sounds crazy to me, why would I want someone else's pet? We'd just trade and I'd get mine back. Never mind--PLEASE don't give a serious answer to this question.

It doesn't really matter what I believe on this issue. Heaven is going to be what it is, whatever I think. Heck, not marrying or being given in marriage doesn't sound like heaven to me, either. So, I'll just have to take Christ's word for it that I'll like it when I get there.

Hey Apo, I just had a thought...what would sedevacantists be qualified as in terms of this poll? I don't even know if we have any sedes around here these days but where would they fall in terms of your poll?
MT, I'm very impressed by your spelling. I've never considered being a sedevacantist because I couldn't spell it, and didn't know I could use "sedes" for short.

Also, I don't know enough about the Popes over the last century or so to have an opinion on whether they are "true Popes" or not.

No need for anyone to go to the trouble of explaining the details of the issue to me. If the time comes when need to know, I'll look it up.

Well... I guess there will be pets in heaven... I mean... humans will be there.

After all... deep down inside we all know... Cat's are really our master, not us theirs.

You all know it's true... deep down in side... deeeeeep down. If you don't know it, it's because you haven't dug deep enough.

And, if I don't dig deep enough, my cats' nails will help me dig even deeper. They also like to yell in my ear when I'm trying to sleep.

(I'm having this vision of millions of pets picketing heaven carrying signs about equal eternal rights for animals. And, when St. Peter's attention is diverted, they'll climb around and over the pearly gates. Video later.)

But, as I said earlier, we can debate this all we want, but, in the end, heaven is going to be whatever heaven is. And, we've been told we'll be happy, so we have to assume that we'll be happy. But, if I'm assigned to the "mansion" with no running water and sleeping bags on the floor, I'm going to make sure I get transfered to the "Luxury cruise ship mansion."

After all, now that you're married, doesn't a heaven without marriage sound like it's missing something fun? On the other hand, after 60 or 70 years of marriage, maybe your idea of heaven will be the ability to play video games all day.

So, many things we have to wait to find out....

It is a distinction that Pope Benedict made in connection with the two versions of the Roman Missal (See Summorum Pontificum). The Ordinary Form is the celebration of the Roman mass according to the modern missal composed in the late 1960s, while the Extraordinary Form involves the celebration of the mass according to the older missal codified after the close of the Council of Trent by Pope St. Pius V.

Are you saying it's very ordinary, or that it's outside of the ordinary?

Heaven IS Marriage. :)
Earthly marriage is an image of what is to come in the eternal life. In Heaven, there will also not be any chance of boredom or sadness, because it is one, eternal moment of bliss and joy in beholding the Face of the Divine One. The thought that earthly marriage posesses more joys than the Divine Union it represents is illogical, even though we, due to our nature, have a tendency towards that thought because that which is of the earth, we can see. And that which is to come, is still veiled in some way. We are still beholding things as if through a dark mirror. That is where strong faith comes in.

I'm sure you're right, but my comment was directed to Slappo, who is newly married. Who knows, if you get married someday, your opinion might change, too. And, come to think of it, I don't remember if Slappo ever said he agreed with me--probably not.

I never pretended that my point was logical. And, I DID say that I was going to trust Christ that I will like heaven when I get there.

I suspect you took my post just a mite more seriously it was intended to be read.
