I'm kind of a wreck about this and many of my friends aren't being understanding. I'm posting about it here because I need some emotional support. holly.o Posted August 1, 2010 Share Posted August 1, 2010 Pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for him. & I can't find the exact quote, but I remember reading that it was revealed to St. Faustina that Our Lord comes to everyone at the time of their death and offers His mercy. This thought gives comfort to me when I think about those who have seemingly rejected God throughout their life - we really don't know the final, interior moments of anyone's soul's life on this earth. None of us realize how much we live in the future, until it isn't there anymore. Pray for him, yes, but continue to be a good friend in the present. Make his present as happy and fulfilling as possible. I have a friend and former music student who moved away, so I communicate with her by e-mail. Shortly after she got settled in her new place she was diagnosed with cancer, with tumors all through her body. So far the chemo therapy is working, but she isn't out of the woods yet. When I e-mail her, I always include a link to some bit of music that I think she might enjoy. It won't cure her, but I hope to make her present better. I remember reading an article about a woman who was dying and bedridden at that point. Her friend brought in little pieces of cloth with different textures, such as velvet and satin. The woman in bed couldn't do much, but she could enjoy the textures of those clothes as they were stroked on her face. It really hits me hard when I think about how many of the people I love are not really active Christians. It reminds me that God's object is for us to share Heaven with him and that His mercy is so incredibly deep that we will never be able to understand it.
