Credo in Deum
Yep! For me it was a sigh of relief. I had wanted to do it for so long and in 2013, I made it one of my Lenten resolutions. I'm very happy I did it during Lent since the environment is one of sacrifice, silence, and joy. It also worked out perfectly since I had chose March 19th as my consecration day. I then got a ring to commemorate it and I added the inscription 'Ad Jesum per Mariam' on the inside of the band. The jeweler's face was priceless. AFTER MANY FAILED ATTEMPTS OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS! MADE CONFESSION AND WENT TO MASS. How do you feel now? Have you noticed anything different? For me, it has been apparent that I have much more peace inside even in difficult situations. And lets just say, there have been many little graces and that by entrusting myself to Our Lady, it has even impacted other people in a very POSITIVE way! SO GLAD you posted this! Ash Wednesday
As Providence had it, I was also led to joining the Legion of Mary (and that's an interesting story in itself). Every year around the Annunciation, they have their Acies ceremony which includes mass, confession and a ceremony where you openly make or renew your consecration and say "I am all yours, My Queen and My Mother, and all that I have is yours." So not only did my consecration correspond with an Acies ceremony, but I also had a very profound experience in confession -- it's amazing how everything fell into place -- all the way down to the particular priest that ended up hearing my confession and what I was able to talk about with him regarding something that's weighed on my heart for years. While I was waiting for confession, something gently tugged at the strings of my heart and told me to "hold absolutely nothing back" There's also some other wonderful stories related to this today with some of the ladies from the Legion I met today and talking to them. It was all just so, so profound.
totustuus20
I did the consecration this past year. I definitely feel the spiritual 2X4 to the face thing. I have found that the second you tell St. Mary that you wish to be closer to Jesus, there is no stopping it. God is SO good.
HopefulHeart
I did the consecration in 2012, on the Feast of the Assumption. I'm very glad that I made the consecration, especially given that I decided to do it at the last minute. Reading True Devotion to Mary as preparation was very powerful for me because it really showed me how closely devotion to Mary is tied to love of Our Lord. Congratulations on your consecration! Mary+Immaculate<3
I did the Montfort consecration a few years ago, and the 33 Days to Morning Glory last year, on different feast dates. They're both very good, but I think the Gaitley book is more lay-person friendly. The Montfort one was harder because it added prayers to the point where I was struggling to keep up, as I'm sure y'all can relate to. During the 33 Days book I really felt like I got fired up. Mary sent me lots of love So, I had a good experience over all, and like I said, both are excellent, it just depends on your status in life as to what fits best. The Historian
It's wonderful to see so many slaves of Our Blessed Lady!I originally made my consecration 4 years ago, on the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary. So I annually re-new it on October 7th; this year will be my 5th year. However, I will be attending a meeting of the local men's group of the Legion of Mary. I feel I need a bit of reinforcement in living the consecration.
