Sick of jeans in Church

I went to church last night for Mass,

Over half of the people were wearing jeans.

Now I am not too fond of wearing skirts, they are cold and any stiff breeze could render me indiscrete. But I always wear something nice for Church, slacks, a suit....sometimes even a dress or a skirt.

I understand if you can't afford anything nice, but judging from the cars in he parking lot I am thinking that most of the people there could have done a little better than jeans and a sweatshirt.

I'm sick of those girls who come b/c their parents make them and they wear the tinyest skirts. I'm like is that even a skirt!? don't you have any respect for yourself! and it's disgusting for me

I really am in need of some nice pants. All I have that fits anymore are jeans. Once Christmas is over and I have my paycheck from all the overtime I'm doing during winter break they're the first thing I'm going to buy.
were many people coming from work?
HSMOM....I have worked in dirty jobs.
Farm, Factories, constructions sites, and wholesale greenhouse labor.

If I was in the factory, or the greenhouse or a construction site and had to getto church afterwords I brought a change of clothes, and either changed in the bathroom or stopped at a gas station and changed.

And As for the farm, I NEVER went in my work clothes then EVER. Even though there were four of us kids that all needed baths after work Mom and Dad always had us clean and nicely dressed.

I can understand little kids wearing jeans, but the parents?
Sorry no pity here. I can understand a few of the people, but over half?????

Well duh, they have better things to do afterward, like go hang out, pick up boys, go to the beach. I mean they could bearly make it for church....cause I mean they had to leave even before the priest did!!!! They had to be going somewhere important ;)

When I plan on stopping by the church after school for adoration or Mass (as in the case yesterday), I plan in the morning to dress up a bit more than I usually would. This means no jeans and no t-shirts with big ol' bright graphics on them (like band shirts).

I'm used to seeing jeans and sweatshirts in church because that it what the student's wear to Mass at the Newman Center. In choir we have a no jeans and sneakers rule.

I always dress up for Sunday's and Holy Day's, however, I go to daily Mass four times a week and I do not dress up. I just wear whatever I am wearing that given day.

I wear jeans to mass. I don't see what the big hoop-la is about.

Shouldn't you be concentrating on the presence of Our Lord, rather than judging those around you?

Jeans can be very nice I think. I generally try to stay away from them at Mass, because I feel most comfortable in khakis and a nice sweater. I really don't think that wearing a suit is a good idea for me, because I'd feel pretty out of my element when I'm that dressed up, unless of course everybody else it that way. You should make yourself presentable when you are meeting the Lord, but I don't see where jeans are objectively shotty.

For Mass at the College Church here on campus, it would be a good thing if more girls wore jeans.... much more modest than what they wear now

But, usually i wear a tshirt and slacks.

And then a cassock over that. :D

Would you wear ratty jeans and an old sweatshirt if you and the President had a private meeting, or any meeting?

Would you Wear jeans and a ratty t-shirt if you were about to have a private audience with the Queen of England?

How about the Pope?

Jesus is more important than any of these, I know that it is what is inside that counts but I want to show outward respect to Him also. I am not so much busy on concetating and judging those around me as I am distressed at the lack of respect people show for the King of Kings.

It is the principle of the thing, I also have a beef against the girls I see coming to church in mini-skirts that barely cover their dupas, and I can see their underwear.

Don't rob me of my rant woman.

You have your pet peeves I have mine, and ratty sweatshirts and holey jeans in Mass are one of them.
