Balthazor
You didn't see these jeans. I also have a problem with playboy t-shirts at mass.

Lil Red
what does that have to do with anything?
it's cold. to be fair, my kids didn't realize until they got to youth group that we were going to Mass, so they didn't know. because somebody (me) forgot that it was a Holy Day of Obligation until Tuesday. Lil Red
you will find that usually most people here will dress up for Sunday am Masses, but especially for the Saturday eve Mass, most people will wear jeans. smaller towns especially here will dress very well (no matter how poor) for Sunday Masses, especially since it is such a treat to have a priest officiating for Mass (instead of just Word & Communion). edited to add: although usually in smaller towns, you will find the men especially wearing nicer jeans (especially if they are ranch hands or farmer) with cowboy boots. wow, that is a lot of use of the word "especially" in one post. Balthazor
I can relate to that one. I am from a small town. We were without a permament priest for a couple years. A priest from an hour away would come out an say mass on the weekends. We finally got a permanent priest, for our three parishes. Well actually four parishes. My church and anopther small country church were joined before, but now that church is for all practical purposes closed.
Lil Red
yeah, living in a state where the Catholic communities are so spread out is really hard. i am fortunate to live in a bigger city. the problem is that a priest here can spend his whole Sunday (or Saturday) traveling to officiate at Mass. which can burn out your priests a lot faster if they have to travel 150 miles in a day to say Mass at 3 places. ya know? Oik
I wish all men were allowed to wear cassoks, I would wear one. Heck, i'd wear a robe if it were acceptable. Lady's you can't stop fashion. So wearing jeans now isn't a big deal, but I guarantee you that wearing jeans as opposed to wearing skirts or a dress has greatly contributed to the "acceptance" of scandalous clothing in immmodest dressing. Luthien
Jeans arent immodest, not the ones I wear anyway. Do I have to get messy with my reasons for not wearing skirts? Fine I will I have to shave my legs every day. And no skirt I can buy can hide that, neither can hose. 'nough said.
BurkeFan
Hm, I just remembered, there's a Franciscan order whose habit is actually made out of blue jean material. I met a few on the March for Life a year or two ago, and they said it was because blue jean was today's common material.

traichuoi
I'm sick of those girls who come b/c their parents make them and they wear the tinyest skirts. I'm like is that even a skirt!? don't you have any respect for yourself! and it's disgusting for me
luckily Christ would invite these people to sit with him...i know i would rather people dres modestly but it doesn't do anything to look at them with glaring eyes. i applaud parents who make their children go to mass...they are fulfilling their call...hopefully they are teaching the children how lively our faith is...
