dtofdh
I just saw this movie and its hilarious. I was pleasantly surprised at how squeaky clean the movie was. I wasn't expecting that when I saw the MTV connection at the beginning of the movie. I've been wondering who is responsible for this movie. I liked its theme of friendship and loyalty. What did you guy's think???
Dreamweaver
I think a Mormon husband and wife team produced, directed and wrote the movie. That could partly explain the cleanliness of it.
inDEED
I don't think that anyone on these boards have seen this movie... But isn't there some guy named, "Pedro" in it?
Socrates
Yes. There's been at least 3 threads about that movie on here already. I think this is the most discussed/quoted movie in phatmass! Dreamweaver
I just finished watching it for the third time in the theater. Its a great movie. I caught a lot more mistakes/incongruencies. 5 times during the movie (twice during the last scene after the credits roll) the boom mic is visible. Pedro's family is so Catholic.... during his speech, he discusses putting Holy Santos in the halls, including the Nino de Atocha (which I just caught today). I love Pedro's cousins. They're awesome.
Stceciliapray4us
Someone actually posted (I dont remember who?) about how cool it was that Pedro was so blatantly Catholic in a state thats so Mormon.... I had never even thought of that. GO PEDRO!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Hey Napolean what are you doing today?" "WHATEVER I Wanna DO !" Theres no more Lord of the Rings Movies ! What ELSE can we talk about ? Napolean Dynamite is the man of the hour... I'm sure that will change with the advent of Episode III, Napolean is cool but I dont think he can compete with a man in a black suit wielding a light sabre. Napolean said : "I'm pretty good with a Bo staff" but still......Vader would just choke him or something with his Jedi powers. :swords: :saber:

My friend Greg, who was Mormon, played the original Pedro (along with another guy who the directors ended up collabortaing the two dudes to make into one character, pedro) So anyways, yes the directors, producers, the actor who played Napoleon among others are LDS. I am pretty stoked it was clean and yet -- totaly attracted the Latino Catholics in Idaho! I just <3 Pedro ... ha ha
dtofdh
I didn't realize there have already been several threads here on the movie because I'm a newbie...sorry! I hadn't heard much about the movie before. When I first started watching it I was confused as to where the movie was going because the plot was so simplistic. Then I realized the story was focused more on developing the characters, and their personalities. It reminded me of movies like Spinal Tap, Waiting for Guffman, and Best in Show because of the way the character's personalities are developed so well. The actors did an awesome job. They were hilarious! After seeing it I had wondered if the makers of the movie were Catholic because of the Catholic references and I figured you guys would know since you all seem so well informed all the time!!! Anyway, I had also wondered if we (my family) were the only ones who found it hilarious(because we just have a weird sense of humor), or if others found it to be too. My kids played the DVD 4 times in 24 hours. I think back on my high school days and pick out certain people who remind me of the characters. The dance scene was too much. My kids who are 6, 8, and 11 were absolutely screaming with laughter. I love the look of triumph on Pedro's face(he looked like he had tears in his eyes) following Napoleon's dance performance. Great actors I hope we see more from all of the actors. I hope there's a sequel.
