Cam42 Posted April 8, 2005 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Two reasons.... 1. The Pope is the Patriarch Archbishop of Rome. And properly speaking the bishop should be someone from the local Church. That is why the cardinals are incardinated into the diocese of Rome. 2. Vatican City is in the middle of Italy. Sounds obvious, right....well, it is.
