1337 k4th0l1x0r
Well, Philip Morris (owner of Kraft) also supports abortion, through NOW. It really comes to no suprise that if one supports abortion, they'll support something like the Gay Olympics. I still don't see any point to having a "Gay Olympics".
Off topic, but Philip Morris spun off Kraft several years ago.
Norseman82
This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about! Yes, these people are going to a gay olympics to celebrate the fact that they practice a deviant sexuality which is abhorrent in the eyes of God. That's true. I'm not going to deny that. However, these people could be poor souls struggling to remain chaste if we reached out to them. They aren't a lost cause. The forgiveness of the Lord is infinite. My point is that instead of making threads like these where we all talk about how morally repugnant Gay Olympics are, maybe we should devote our energies to reaching out to the people who participate in them. Maybe we should befriend them, talk to them, and learn about them. Then, through the grace of God, we can reach them and convert them to the Truth. That's why this is a valid discussion and not a red herring in the thread. Because, ultimately, the goal is to share the faith with others, not ridicule them. And I haven't seen a whole lot of sharing going on. What I've seen is revulsion and self-righteousness.
OK, think about this. Is having a "Gay Olympics" and aid or a hindrance in converting these people? It gives the public impression that this lifestyle is acceptable, and more than likely emboldens the participants to harden their hearts, as they have a large network of support for their lifestyle. To me, these are hindrances in reaching them. If they did not have that network of support, evangelization would be easier. Kraft is contributing to that network of support whether intentionally or as an unintentonal side effect of thinking it is good business. Now you may understand why Ironmonk is calling for a boycott. Besides, successful boycotts also serve as a means to show that there is a substantial amount of support in the general public for something by "voting with their dollars". Businesses that feel the need to "break into" gay market to get customers need to be reminded that there are a lot of practicing Christian customers out there too and we are a potent economic force as well. BTW, any ideas on good coffee brands to replace Maxwell House when I'm finished with what I have?
thessalonian
Valid point Norseman, It is drawing them more in to the gay lifestyle by having events that promote homosexuality as a valid and digified state of life. There is no dignity in sin. Our dignity is in our being created in the image and likeness of God. Sin detracts from that dignity and corrupts that image. God wishes to restore it but cannot do so if we remain in our sin. Blessings Edited May 12, 2005 by thessalonian
Christ's Knight
KizlarAgha... your heart is kind of in the right direction. To Love one another. But what you are over looking is that having & supporting a "gay olympics" the homosexual community is NOT asking to be loved. They are DEMANDING that their LIFESTYLE be accepted as an "alternative" (where else do we hear so often about choice). We accept the individual & love them but despise the lifestyle. Also this priest friend you speak of. Does he go into the bars to and alleys while those people are drinking & shooting up to listen to their problems? Probably not... I would bet they come forward to meet with him. So your point is kind of irrelevant. The majority of priests & well good Catholics will listen & not repremand. Ask your priest friend how he would feel if they wanted to have a "Drug Olympics" of some kind and whether he would donate money to it? I doubt it. And Kraft recently went public. Unfortunately, all stockholders care about is money.
thessalonian
How do you think society would react if kraft sponsored a prostitue olympics or a jon olympics? My guess is that housewives accross the country would revolt and Kraft would be shut down. But since they are supporting the politically correct issue of the decade there is no uproar. Yet, I can see the day coming where there would be no uproar about these things either. The old frog in a pot of water senario. Blessings
