My Weird Dream About Meeting the Pope

Recommended Posts

Okay, so I usually go to sleep at night with EWTN tuned in with the TV on. I really think that it has an affect on what type of dreams you have. Although you are sleeping, I think your ears can still hear things, and it directly influences your dreams.

Anyway, so I had this dream. Like all dreams, I can only remember fragments.

- I find out I am going to meet pope Benedict XVI
- I am standing in a line of people who are meeting him
- Someone tells me to greet him by saying "My greetings to the pope"
- It is my turn to meet him, so I kneel down and kiss his ring and say "My greetings to the pope". For some reason, there was a German translator who then translated what I said to the pope in German. The pope says to me "what did you say?". I repeat, "my greetings to the pope". Then, through the translator, the pope tells me that I have let myself get out of hand and I should lose a few pounds. Then I say, "my greetings to the pope" again, and the pope gives me an odd look.

I wonder what this all means?

In the tradition of great royal advisors, I'm going to interpret this dream for you.

The pope's interpreter is there as a representative of your conscience and the pope as an authority figure. This scene that plays out in your mind is a way of self-motivation. The pope, as an authority figure is telling you that you need to do something you had already suspected - lose a few pounds. However, the dream couches things in terms of an outside figure of authority because you haven't been listening to your own conscience, which is represented by the translator whom you need to interpret the wisdom of the figure of authority. The odd look from the pope when you greet him a third time comes because he has already dispensed the advice you sought, and yet you continue to seek alternative advice.

Freud's interpretation:

The pope represents your father. The interpreter represents your mother. You want to kill the pope and marry the interpreter! You're  man!

Ash Wednesday

I had a weird dream about phatmass really early this morning. In the dream one of my friends (a very confused Catholic) posted a bunch of offensive stuff on phatmass and I had to confront her about this deep resentment she holds towards Catholicism. She was also wearing drops of a friend's blood like perfume, almost like it was holy water.

I posted something on the boards about going to a Catholic church that she suggested in New York City and Homeschoolmom said -- "be careful that is a really weird liberal church"

And then my friend and I were in an elevator on the way to this mass and I said "I happen to LIKE Ratzinger" and my friend looked like she was going to start crying and was going into hysterics and we started debating his history and alleged "character"

What a whopper.

I made part of my intentions with my rosary today for my friend.

I had a dream about Pope John Paul II just after he died. He came to meet me at my Chapel and we were all waiting in line, but he wanted to meet me and when I went to kiss his ring he wouldn't let me, he said there was no need....i have forgotten the main details of it now.
