Guest Weirdo
If one was to major in Philosophy but attend a Catholic College instead of college seminary, is the two year pre-theology waived? How many hours of philosophy is needed before major seminary? If one goes through pre-theology do they receive a BA in Philosophy? Is theology or religious studies needed before entering major seminary, or is it just philosophy? If their is a concelebrating priest do they wear the chesible as well? (Chesible is that big one right?) Thanks, Weirdo
Pio Nono
JMJ 5/29 - Corpus Christi Weirdo, Lots of questions - let me try to tackle them. (1) Pre-theology embodies more than just philosophy; there are also basic religious/theological studies that one must complete before entering a theologate. (2) As it currently stands, one needs eighteen hours of undergraduate-level philosophy to enter major seminary. However, that number will change within the next six to eight months to thirty hours. (3) No, one does not receive a B.A. in philosophy if he goes through pre-theology. (4) Yes, I believe that twelve hours of undergraduate-level theology/religious studies are needed before entering a theologate. (5) I'm not certain on the rule with regards to this last point, so I can't help you out there. Hope this helps. Yours, Pio Nono
